Default htc evo 4g

Hey I read people switching over the evo 4g to metro is this possible...does everything work and also I just got the quattro 4g to sign up for 4g service to get my bill at $30 dollars a month...well they put a sim chip in it...I am guessing that is for the 4g...could I use the evo 4g now if it did work??
