This guy on YouTube posted up a video stating that there might be a new phone called the Huawei M931 heading to MetroPCS. I was wondering if anyone has any idea if it is true or not. Here is the pic he posted along with the video ---> metroPCS News- Huawei M931/Premia 4G, Rumor LG MS790 - YouTube

Metro needs to stock some better phones, seriously. This new Huawei phone sounds like a twin to the ZTE Avid. Not that the Avid is a bad phone, but Huawei just has a poor record with MPCS. I think the Ascend was the only one that was half-way decent after heavy modding LOL...
If the quad-core rumor is true, it may have some hope after all, like being able to run like it has a 1GHz CPU. A new locked down LG phone??? LOL... I'm all set with them

Re: New Huawei M931 to MetroPCS???
I dunno. Maybe Huawei stepped up their game a bit with this new one? ANYTHING would be better than that Activa model LOL right? I have an M835 that is perfect for hacking and tinkering around with, and managed to not kill it yet, damn thing is bulletproof
1.5 Ghz, (hopefully) QuadCore and Gorilla glass? It sounds decent for the price.....
I'm not buying anymore huawei phones ... the ascend was ok due to playfulgod and Issac, the activa LOL has no support what so ever what if this one becomes just like the activa naw too risky, for me I want a device that's sturdy so if my daughter throw it at me its still intact .. that huawei looks like she could chew on the back cover
Device(s): LG Spirit
LG Motion FoGee (Stunt double)

As long as you can get the Spirit, a major brand phone with at least Some support, with a brazeelyun times better appearing construction from Wirefly for $169 activated, you'd have to be effin dain bramaged to get this phone for $20 less. At least the Spirit has Gen-u-wine Simulated Metalplastic.
IMO anyway.

I will have to say this, at least it's ICS. Metro is bringing out some phones with a better OS than GB.

The phone looks alright. At least it has ICS. Shame that GB phones are still being sold nowadays, not only by Metro, but by all the carriers. Its been 2 almost 3 years, its outdated. This phone is more for people either new to Android, or coming from a GB phone, imo.
I'll stick with my Motion for now, especially with the possible upcoming merger

Have to second that, I can't wait until we at metro has T-mobile speeds at metro price, but that phone still looks boring.

Apparently Metro considers them an Authorized Dealer. If you read the mouseprint on the rebate form it Does specifically say that phones from WallyWhurl and BestBuy DON'T get the rebate. So, before I got my Spirit from Wirefly, I asked them about it on Faceplant. Somewhere in the Spirit area is the thread where I posted the snipped Faceplant convo where they said yes, Wirefly was okiedokie. My own Wirefly Spirit rebate is cleared for it's final processing now, they're just at the point where they check and see if I still have service 30 days after activating the phone.
But yes, it Does also say in the rebate Mouseprint only Authorized Metro dealers so if one had the slightest concern if where they were getting their phone from was a GO, they should check with Metro, and I did.

btw, I've been playing quiet a few games and the premia has handled all of them well at high graphical settings. Apparently it's not as good as the LG Spirit, but I am very happy with this phone's performance.

Just bought one of these today after my favorite CM7-M860 did a 1-1/2 gainer smack dab, screen-first onto the metal leg of my cave chair! :-( So wanted the GS3, but couldn't justify the bucks to wifey... Soooo, settled for this new Huawei beastie instead as my trusty M860 was such a soldier for so many years.
So, first impression... WOW, fast little sucker - but then I've been on an M860 for so long it's not really a fair assessment I think. However, I also do have Comcast Blast-Plus on the Desk and I gotta admit the idea of poppin on the hotspot and dumping the $100+/mo. Comcast bill has been gnawin at my cranium something fierce!!! But, again, this 4GLTE is still new so I've decided to let it brew a bit before makin any hasty decisions.
Google/Gmail setup was done in seconds, literally, txt/pic messaging is no longer a tap-n-wait affair. Calls are clear and loud (but one call from wifey's sammy 2G {yes, you read that correctly, '2G'!!! She's like stuck on stupid with that damn old-a#$ed phone} had this annoying echo-ey, feedback-like feint popping going on in the background. Didn't seem to matter when switching speaker-phone on or off, either. She mighta been driving (bad wifey) when she called, too, so chock it up to anomaly as it hasn't happened again in 7-8 calls. Camera/picture quality is real nice and video recording is pretty decent, too. Shot a 2 minute vid of the four ankle biters either running from or trying to devour my new toy and attached it to a txt and presto! my youngest daughter had it seconds later on her Verizon iPhone 5! She txt back 'Nice vid, Pops. How'd you do that on your old piece of junk?' Teenagers, huh? Sceen is really responsive with no semi-dead spots (ala, M860 and the 'P' key and lower edge-residing neighbors.
So when playtime was over and i hadda give some serious thought to securing this thing I went directly to web through the default browser (Chrome) and DL'ed Avast mobile and again this was all done in tens of seconds (seriously impressive imho), but (yup, here it comes) couldn't get 'all' the anti-theft features to work due to not having root priv's! Yea, not really the phone's fault bein new and all and so thought I'd pop on over here and check the status of root-ability and well, here we are, lol, waiting. If i had more time and knowledge...
So, yea, from a professional level user this phone is pretty damn nice for your 'everyday use' and associated tasks. Will report more as it happens and so on.
One last note: the Metro-bate of $49.00 is 'only' for new phone/customer/activations! The $15.00 phone number transport is in effect and if you can tell the right joke and get the little hottie working the counter to smile you might get the coupon for the 'as-yet-unavailable' rubber metro-phone-cover gratis!!! Going back inna week for mines - The rubber cover, i mean, lol!!! X

i recall when i came from the Lg connect to the Lg motion and thought i had stepped into a whole new universe of smartphone awesomeness that i didnt think could exist.
i thought the connect was an awesome phone since it was my first smartphone ever even though it had huge issues. abysmal battery life, overheating, lack of functionality. i had to root it and put all sorts of stuff on it just so the phone could function.
when i got the motion i was blown away at how all the functions i needed all sorts of root required apps on the my connect to have came right out of the box on my motion. the only reason i rooted it at all was because you have to if you want to use ad blocking apps.
to think that a more than $300 phone would be vastly inferior in every aspect to a phone less than half its price.
i need a root method any way will work im a pro just cant find a method can i put busy box on and root that way or is there a one click method and go that rote or is there a stock rooted
well i was hoping t find some users interested in testing a possible root. but seems there isnt any users for that phone on that forum.

I have a premia and I'll test a root method if you've got one.
I've already tried OneClickRoot, SuperOneClick, and a script from Bin4ary.
It looks like the file system is never mounted properly and the correct folders are never found.
Also, here is my output using Bin4ary method in PTP (Camera Mode).

It looks like it can't access the file system folders. The restore function ends rights away, and the script just keeps running . Trying it in Mass Storage Mode points the script to the SD card (or worse, the data partition of the phone mounted as /mnt/sdcard).
In MTP, it can't find the device at all. OneClickRoot also "works" in PTP mode, but fails at the very end.
Anyone who can get this device rooted sure would be my hero
