Default Will Metro be clamping down on tetherers?

T-Mobile to throttle customers who use unlimited LTE data for torrents/p2p » TmoNews

Yes, I realize it's a T-Mo article but they own us. I also realize that 99% of the article addresses Torrent users and P2P BUT they Clearly slipped the T word in there too.

First, I'm not totally clear myself they Can ID you as Just a tetherer If you are using a user agent switcher.

I know technically, T-Mo has a brazeelyun Gig limit per month and last I heard, the Meto limit was supposed to be around 60G a month.

Wondering here...

I don't get it either, I have an app on my phone that searches and downloads specifically from kickasstorrents, so because i'm using that app on my phone I'll get throttled? When I'm using probably LESS data then some people who only stream music all day.

I am NOT a tech expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I would think it's Easy Peasy for them to ID those certain web addressi that are associated with Torrenting.

Now, telling that your Netflocking is actually being done on a laptop even though your user agent says Metro, that's seems more difficult to me to determine.

I am Concerned about the tethering part.

If I were Torrenting/P2P, I'd be Worried.

I really doubt that there is anything they would do, Ive heard of some users who use around 80gb a month and have no problems.

Before the merger, metro would start throttling at around 60GB but so far T-Mobile has not been throttling (it seemingly would throttle if someone got to 9765GB within a billing cycle) so that's not really what it's talking about.

But T-Mobile has one of the best tether detections out of all of them so thats the question. If they have a new method to detect even when you switch user agents or use other bypasses.

Well, at least with my Aesis using Chrome and the Ultimate UA switcher, when I first start to T, I have to open a browser screen where I get the T-Mo upsell because I have to log into Chrome first for that UA add on to load up.

So unless I use Wifi to load the UA Then change to T, they have me "circumstantially". Of course, if my Wifi is good enough at that time to load Chrome then I wouldn't need to T now would I.
