I see on the original website in one of the logs it say for 8.03 we need to do a clean install of it or we will have probs... I haven't upgraded yet be but if I do I will tell how it went. I kinda like my setup, just trying to figure out ways for battery life other than underclocking.

The modem file is where u went wrong... the reason for this thread is here is to provide what is needed I specifically state load rom, metro fix zip and kernel... I'm not sure why you would load the modem.... that's a Sprint modem...

You might have to Odin back to stock... but even the your computer would have to read the phone

Hey man it happens I'm really not sure what possessed you to flash that... and I'm really sorry that it happened... I feel really bad but I try anything I post at least 20 times before I even share...I pmed Shabby hopefully he responds soon... but either way I believe it has a 30 day warranty so all u do is bring to the store and they replace it... but make sure it's definitely bricked... start a thread and get some feedback that way you know for sure

Yes, do this so because you have a 1 year manufacture warranty from samsung, around my neck of the woods you have to bring it to only the metro corporate store.

Anyone updat to 8.0.4 yet? It came out yesterday.

well i tried to PM you back but your box is full...

try flashing the lj3 or lj1 radios and hope the radio damage isnt permanent. it may very well be he truly broke his device
apparently its a bit more serious than that tho. seems sprint radios lie on different partitions than ours do. when i flash i used us cellulars radios and it nulled out my imei and esn etc. if you cant make it to download mode then there is nothing you can do

and if i have to do it through metro should i say something like an update popped up and it wont turn on anymore? or should i say something like there is an issue with it charging and its not even charging anymore. i can say i have tried my battery in my gfs phone and yada yada yada.... that way they send me a new one through metro... im just trying to bypass spending any money, bc i dont have the money to spend... lol.. i just dont want to take it to a metro corporate store and they can immedetly tell that its bricked. and then they dont do anything.

no thats all

not trying to pick on you, but you just happen to be at teh wrong place at the worng time.

this is why OEM's use locked bootloaders, this is why samsung has the download counter and all that other security. had the bootloader been locked he wouldnt have been able to use a custom recovery to flash files that would break his device. the new phone he is gunna get isnt gunna just magically appear its going to come out of someones pocket (either metropcs' or samsung's). this isnt a one time thing im sure many of you have seen people swap out devices that were perfectly fine 24 hours before that. with so many people doing it samsung and teh carriers have to try to combat it, sure for now we can beat it with things like triangle away but what happens when we cant?

i do hope they give ya a new (or even a refurb) phone for free or worst case a modest fee.

Just go to Metro and tell them that you don't know what happend but all of a sudden it died... had mine for less than two months, tried a setting change that someone suggested, and next thing I knew, the screen was blank. took it to Metro, they tried to do a reset, and that didn't do it, so they ordered a new one for me, told me I would be without a phone for 3-5 business days. fortunitly I was able to finaly get into the recovery mode of the phone and was able to install a stock rom that I got off the internet. Try pushing Vol up, Home and then Power, that should get you into either the download screen or recovery screen.
the other possibility is that your phone actually did die... son-in-law's screen started to act up, and then completely stop showing anything, took a couple of hours from first indication to final death and was acting just like you explained. would make sounds, but nothing was displaying and computer wouldn't recognize it. AT&T replaced it for $15.00

You Can't Be Serious... I specifically put up not to flash modems from any other carrier... I'll m honestly contemplating removing the links... I figure the people that need the updates know where to go... maybe just leave the thread to chit chat about the rom.. thoughts?

You should put it in big red letters. I'm not even new to Android flashing, I just didn't really notice it.

Umm not picking on you but I make it a habit to read all directions before downloading and flashing.... I put it on there twice...never good through skim through specific directions when flashing anything.... I've been flashing for over 10yrs and I still read carefully...

That's what I'm saying... I put it on the top and the bottom of the instructions post... Don't see how you follow instructions and miss it... Anyway hope he gets his phone back and doesn't have any trouble...
