Default Rooting Issues

I was wondering what the current issues are concerning rooting the Metro SG4.

Are there problems (not possible) to restore stock? That wouldn't bother me. Are the wifi issues relating to specific router issues or a more systemic problem? I use miracast as my phone drives my entertainment center so a wifi problem would be a problem.

I am mainly looking to root for hotspot/customization (I am going to create boot animations etc)

Thanks in advance for the info.

Default Dont get a 64gb sdcard- whatever you do- none of the custom recoveries support it

There are backups of the original out of the box Metro GS4- available- so getting back to stock- is do-able. Getting unrooted and cleaned up to look nice for the metro store/ warranty- is assured with stuff available. Triangle away etc...

But on the rooted side -I've been narrowed down to just 2 roms- StockDroid (a google edition stripped down rom- with 64gb sdcard support and wifi hotspot enabled)..... and a stock out of the box looking- modified touchwiz metro rooted rom- which supports 64 gb sdcard (and limited hotspot-still can dload my torrents but no web surfing- even user agent workaround...)
But none of the TWRP or clockwork mod recoveries- support/see/mount my 64gb sandisk ultra class ten microsdcard- even after i formatted it in android.

And the reason I am down to just two roms- they are the only ones I've found that have support in the rom- for 64gb sdcard.... I've tried other suggestions, kernels and workarounds...nothing is satisfactory beyond two roms-I've found thus far....wifi- no issues rebooting the pc/tablet or phone- couldn't fix- thus far...

noirelion covered a lot. Ill add a bit more.

I remember seeing some posts in the Tmobile forums regarding WiFi issues but i don't recall if it was related to root or specific roms. In any case, the fix for the issue, if I remember correctly, was to update the router firmware (it only effected a certain router brand, I dont recall which). I haven't run into this issue myself and dont use my phone to run my media center....though I should start to

FYI: Did you guys know that the S4 has a built in IR Blaster? That dot to the right of the headphone jack is the infrared LED (like the one on your TV/cable box remote control) and with the proper app (search for IR Remote) you can control most TVs, DVD players, cable and satellite boxes etc like a universal remote...no wifi necessary. That is assuming the app you use has the proper remote code....which is the issue I have. I can control the cable box with it and my stereo but not the TV because its old and I cant find a code for it that works

Can i use my S4 as a mobile hotspot? I see some threads addressing this problem. I was wondering if it a problem with certain roms or if it is more systemic. This is my main reason for rooting.

Thank you.

Sorry, im not sure what it is you're looking for. If you've seen the threads addressing mobile hotspot in the forum, then you should have your answer.

What problems are you talking about? Im personally unaware of any systemic problems.

Might be worth trying. You could always ask some questions about it in that thread. They may have answers.
I may be wrong, dont most of the Tmobile custom roms support hotspot? I think Infamous does.
