hello,
Thank you for contacting us about GPL
violations in Micromax Android
phones. You're right that a serious violation
has occurred if Micromax
is distributing GPL-covered software without
providing its source code,
and we're always interested in hearing
about cases like this.
However, we only take direct enforcement
action in cases where the
software being distributed is copyrighted by
the FSF. In an
Android-based phone, examples of FSF-
copyrighted software that are
likely to be included are glibc and
gdbserver.
If Micromax's phones include any FSF-
copyrighted software, please let me
know what that is, and we'll investigate
further. Otherwise, I would
encourage you to contact the copyright
holders of the GPL-covered
software on these phones to encourage
them to enforce against this
license violation. We provide instructions on
the best way to do that at
<
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-
violation.html> -- this way, the
copyright holders will have all the
information they need to take
appropriate action.
Thanks again for your support.
Best regards,
