Default [GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ]

Optimus Regard users, use this guide:
[GUIDE] Unbricking/Unrooting Optimus Regard[KDZ]

If you are running version b firmware, please do not do anything to your phone until after contacting me. We need some files from that phone that may help us unlock the bootloader.

To find out which version of firmware you are running, go to:
Settings>About Phone
Thank you

Right now it is likely that anyone here will brick due to the phone having a secured bootloader. Flashing this firmware is your best shot at fixing any brick from screwing up stuff with root permissions.

Downloads:

How to get into emergency mode:
Hold Power+Volume Up+Volume Down
To get out of e-mode, pull battery (do not do this while flashing firmware!)
Picture of emergency mode (Thanks to Sepero):

Thanks to DarkStarONE for how to enter emergency mode.

Before flashing firmware, please make sure your battery is well charged. Flashing does not charge your phone, and flashing can take up to 30 minutes.

Instructions:
  1. Install phone drivers
  2. Install msxml.msi
  3. Disable antivirus software
  4. If the file you downloaded ends in KDZ (torrents), skip to step 12
  5. Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
  6. Wait for the program to open
  7. Look for "Encrypt cab file to kdz file"
  8. Click the folder icon
  9. Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for MS770 firmware
  10. Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program says Done!!! Otherwise it won't finish converting.
  11. Close program
  12. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  13. "Type" choose CDMA
  14. Choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
  15. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
  16. Click Launch software update and enjoy!

If you are stuck in a bootloop, do this (it will factory reset by following this):

Phones don't fix themselves.

K thats a good run down, but have you confirm that it works, because doing this method can really screw some phones up causing them to really screw up there phone, wat if someone get stuck in emergency mode how are they going to get out if,as of right not no one knows how to get in or out of emergency mode.

Aw crap, I forgot to. I'll put this is in beta testing as no one has confirmed this to work yet, because no one has tried it.

Edit: fixed it

This has been confirmed to work by multiple people.

Haha, you know I don't ask for help, I'm too arrogant to let anyone know that I don't actually know everything.

I wasn't referring to what you were saying, more of how you were saying it lol.

Updated OP with how to get in and out of emergency mode.
A tip was given to me in my e-mail. I'm guessing someone hasn't signed up for this site.

Good stuff. Would you mind checking your cpu clock speed and telling us if it's at 1.2 ghz or 1.5 ghz after flashing this firmware?

At first i thought it was because i installed holo launcher as a system app, but the second time around i deleted some apps using titanium backup. Then i rebooted and ended up on the security error screen. I think it may have to do with deleting google play movies or something.

UPDATE: CPU clock speed is at 1.5ghz. I had that on the phone originally as well.

This has been reported to work.
Where are you confused?? The directions are really quite simple.
If you are on a Mac, go borrow a friends PC; if you're on Ubuntu, install windows or borrow a friends PC.

Try 3GQCT in phone type or cdma smartphone. If that doesn't work, just start from e-mode.

I now have a handy copy of the .kdz file. Wouldn't that eliminate half of these steps rather than starting with the .cab? Can someone tell me where to upload it (it is 566mb) so we can simplify this guide?

If you could find a place to upload for free or people wouldn't have to make an account to download, that would be nice. All I use is mediafire and the limit is 200MBs for free users...

Lol it was supposed to be clocked at 1.2 but LG screwed up with their firmware and clocked it at 1.5....which is why some are clocked at 1.2 and others aat 1.5... hahaha good thing I got this firmware backed up and downloaded

Make sure the phone is in emergency mode and your drivers are installed, it has not been confirmed to work by anyone while phone is booted....

It should say finished, but if you're on the home screen and the program is doing nothing else, you're done.

I unbricked it and the process works but I think I am doing something wrong. I tried to root again and i have no access to titanium b/u and superuser does not list any programs. I do not know if i did something wrong or if it just did not install correctly I am at a loss.........

Update....... I figured it out and it seems to be working ok. The root worked as advertised and the un-bricking process works as advertised also thank you to all the people that put this info together i am grateful and I am sure others are as well.
