Is it safe though? i'm afraid of bricking my phone without data etc. I've seen good responses but the bad bricks (on pg 2-3 and 4 i think) freak me out. How successful has this been for most of you guys? Also i used a CPU widget and my phone is clocked at 1512MHz
What if i get stuck in a boot loop (soft brick)?

Yes it is safe. People have only bricked by deleting apps...
There's an unbrick guide.....everyone is back on their feet. No one is stuck in a brick/bootloop/etc. The unbrick guide works flawlessly. Just make sure your battery is charged before you start unbricking it.
I got it!11! Now time to do that other WIP guide! thanks so much and to the guy who made the video and op too
Oh and my camera and camcorder is taking everything fine, thanks so much.

Before I ran the rooting procedure, I set the phone to Installer, and installed the drivers right from the phone itself. I thought that was neat. No issues at all on Win 7.

Yes; in the Settings menu, under connectivity, there are specific USB modes you can select, one being "Installer".
When set to installer, Windows AutoPlay will run the LG driver installation package and install various drivers to the computer. Then the drivers all updated on my next reconnect out of Installer mode. Drivers that failed to retreive from Windows Update initially were then successfully updated from the copied/installed files automatically.

Restart the process. Make sure you have the drivers installed.
I think people are getting hung up at the part where you run the system backup test app. The point of the app is to kill some core system processes, so that the root files and binaries can be pushed. If you wait too long after running the app and rebooting to plug your phone in and run the script, the root will fail because those processes start coming back online.
Hence why some people have had to try multiple times before it worked for them.

I am following this step by step, and I am in the command prompt, and when I type root and hit enter, nothing happens...says it is not recognized as a internal or external command

Yea...
Turns out it did actually root even with the error message.....
I am going to wait until someone posts a awesome rom, and I am going to try a custom rom for the first time, but that is only if there is a way to go back to stock if need be.

- Put the apk in your sd card and install it.
- Open the apk called "SystemBackupTest" and then restart your phone.
- Plug your phone to your pc and make sure its in "charge only" mode.
- Run cmd as administrator.
- Type without quotes "cd C:\o4xr" and press enter. MAKE SURE THE ROOTING FOLDER (o4xr) IS IN THE ROOT OF YOUR "C" HARD DRIVE.
- Type without quotes "root" and press enter.
- It might fail, just run again after phone reboots.
- that should be it.
Any questions just pm me.
I'm trying to run it, and followed exactly these steps (and there's s youtube video with the same steps too).
Problem is when i enter the "root" script, it hangs.
Code:
DON'T TOUCH THE DEVICE OR UNPLUG WHILE ROOTING!
PUSH FILES
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
- that's it. Just stays there. I'm guessing it can't find my device? Do I need to install specific LG Motion drivers or should that be installed on connecting it?

Go to the LG website and download the drivers for the LG Motion then run the script. Should work, I had the same problem.
I cant get my phone to root. I followed the directions. When I type root, this is what is says..Root is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Please Help!!
I followed the instructions listed as the xda site for the LG Optimus, which I believed would work for my LG Motion....the script failed when I ran it at the prompt. It did reboot. But not rooted? What am I doing wrong?

having done this a couple of times on a couple of different pcs i can now say that the driver install ( the right ones ) are very important . i would advise all to not plug the phone in your pc before you have installed and rebooted the drivers . also , if you receive a error check for supersu icon anyway as the root may have taken .
thanks to all for your input .
now for a guide to get this down to a basic ics looking home screen with app tabs would be nice .
what are the must haves and must get rid of to clean up this metro mess ?
Yes I installed that. Ran it. Got "hello world" hit power off/reboot. Ran the c:\root script and it says can not install box, superuser, superuser.adk or something like that. the phone reboots.
