Cost has to be more for an idiot who bricks their s3 compared to replacing a motion.
Agreed like I said I don't know why they did it. I am not suggesting what metro did is right. I agree a s3 is more expensive than motion. That's why there have it unlocked s3 is on all carriers Verizon doesn't care about bootloaders because they get the latest and greatest all the time. Metro very rare do they ever get a major device.

Verizon is the worst when it comes to locked bootloaders. They even had the Galaxy Nexus locked.
Re: Notes from the frontlines...(my conversation with LG about the bootloader)
All nexus devices come with their bootloader locked, but they're not encrypted. Verizon's was no different. A simple "fastboot oem unlock" took care of it.
I was doing some research the other day when i came across an article about unlocking any Android bootloader through the Android sdk. Unfortunately I've lost the link to it but I'm sure you can google and it wouldn't be hard to find. Has anybody tried this? I would do it but I only have one motion and its my only phone now so I can't risk a perma brick.
Thank you for your interest on LG mobile phone.
Currently we are considering methods and target models for bootloader unlock to allow customers to install a custom OS (Operating System).
We are looking for efficient and safe methods to support it, and the target model will be selected with careful consideration. (e.g. technical barrier such as platform limitation and/or mobile carrier’s policy).
We will let you know when we are ready to support unlocking the bootloader.
It is regrettable that we cannot give you the answer right away, and we hope this information is helpful to you.

The Following User Says Thank You to plasticarmyman For This Useful Post:
If you are not satisfied with the phone or the service of a carrier or phone distributor you can spend your hard earned American Dollars on another device and carrier.
You can BOYCOTT both Metro and LG. Use devices that share our sence of product freedom.
The plan of attack on these companys are not productive in the quest to get what YOU pay for. If they can't sell them, they will give you something you WILL purchase. Don't just sit back and whine about what their offering AFTER you purchase crap you don't like, do your homework and be a better informed consumer.
This being said, just sell it or Dev it, Its yours now .
We bought It and lets just Learn From That ...
