I'm thinking about getting a Motion soon..
Yeah, so I've been using the Optimus M for over a year now, which was plagued with random freezing, and reboots. That led to me not being able to rom or really do anything to the phone. Well, now I'm looking for a fresh start and the $55 unlimited plan sounds nice (even if I might not have 3g or 4g in my area).
Anyways, I used to be on the OM thread like everyday, and I was even the one that found the root for the latest update on that phone. I'm looking forward to possibly romming the Motion when I get it, but with that we'd need a custom recovery.
I know there is root for this phone, but I also know that it is from the LG Optimus 4X HD. ...Like the OM, there were certain "cousins" to the device, like Sprint's Optimus S, T-Mobile's Optimus T... and so on.
I'm here to ask if anyone knows what or if there is a close relative to the Motion. Maybe the LG Optimus 4X HD is related, It already has a custom recovery. In a few cases porting roms and recoveries might be easier than starting from the bottom.
btw, I'm taking computer programs and analysis at my college, so this is actually like fun to me, being able to program and edit things.

the recovery is signed/boot loader locked.
there are efforts going on to try and make lg politely unlock the boot loader. if i were you and looking for a new phone id pick it up anyway, its a great device even with out root, let alone a rom/kernel
or wait x amount of time for the s3 to come out, but thatll also cost you several hundred dollars more

Ah. I forgot about that. Haha. it was already out on the OM once I got that. I guess I'll try to be more patient.
Anyways, this phone seems to be too good a deal to turn down. Even if the S3 is faster, at 3 times more expensive, it doesn't seem like the phone for me. Oh, also the reason why I'm excited to rom and mod it, is because I like being able to change things and make them unique. (I'm pretty sure that's why most people are here and not on iPhone forums, if you know what I mean)
I'm actually planning to order one of these next week, and hopefully the $55 plan will still be around. I'm also excited to see a phone that doesn't need to be OC'd to be fast.
Device(s): Rooted Lg Optimus V, Rooted Motorola Triumph, Rooted LG Connect, Rooted Lg Motion(current)

Yes out of the box its like its already rooted. You can freeze most bloatware, turn off back key lights, shire battery percentage uninstall some bloatware and more!

Well as far as the S3 and other "higher-end" phones, I think in practicality and saving. For example, S3 is like $400-$600. Motion is $150. The money that you save could buy you a cheap laptop or tablet(like the Iconia A500...which is like a laptop replacer).. then just tether the 3g/4g to it. That's how I think.
but yeah, I guess I'll be waiting with you guys for LG to satisfy our wants. haha. Hope they do it fast. romming is fun! (minus the bootloops..)

i just bought this phone yesterday and im in love i think, and this imo that lg motion is a way better buy for metro than S3. The S3 is an awesome phone, but to pay so much, when this phone can almost do all of the same crap, and its 400+ cheaper!
Yes, I say get the Motion also-a great little phone.
Best phone Metro´s ever had and great for
$150.
The Galaxy S3 will be the Flagship with a much larger, higher pixel density screen and 8 megapixel
camera and hopefully 2 meg of RAM.......
But will it be faster than the Motion ?~ maybe not.
People have said probably 500-$600 for S3-worth it but not the great value the Motion is IMO.
If there's a rebate- the S3 will be tempting but I'm having fun using the Motion which is faster than my friend's Galaxy Note.
The S3 will be 499+ tax. Check the rules on the metro web site in the sweepstakes for the s3. It says how much it will be there. Hell, enter for the phone :-) I did. It ends October 2nd.
ooh rumors that google might choose lg to manufacture the next nexus? how does that even make sense why wouldn't they just call it the lg nexus...
OMG. Optimus Nexus? that doesn't even sound good.
anyways, given LG's credibility and customer response/support, I wouldn't really trust them with making such a high end device, to be the pinnacle of the OS. Sorry.
On a lighter note. I finally got my hands on the Motion, I've been waiting all last week for it. lol. It's a great phone. only problem was finding the right Launcher... I gave up and went with Nova Prime. I like it. Totally worth $0.25. Yep. And so far ICS is like the best thing to hit Mobile phones, of course that and 4G. which is nice.
Oh also, I told my girlfriend (she's an apple***, no offense) about this. Its so great of an OS, that I really feel like I dont even need to root or customize things. She has a $200 8gb Ipod.. can't do anything, its like paying to get into prison. (that's why people jailbreak iOS stuff) I have a $150 5gb ICS (+ $5 16gb microSD card)... which can do everything, but i choose not to because It already looks nice and stuff. I like it a lot. a lot. This is like the best deal ever. You guys should buy these for everyone you care about. Like for Christmas.. yay. I just want to take a moment to thank my mom, my grandma, my piano, the academy, and the Pell-Grant.. Okay. I'm done. Have a nice day.

No. Never.
Tbh i bet LG would do something crazy, like crazier than the "curved screen".
Maybe like a 6-core processor and an ultra-wide 6" 3D 1080p lcd.
you never know.
Now, stop talking about other phones, this is my thread.
