You should be able to pull it with adb in Ubuntu. Check this package also.

I have fully extracted the boot.img and ramdisk. If their is somewhere i can host it for free let me know. Obviously you know if you decide to make changes you must repack the boot img. I'm searching through code as we speak however I know other programming languages but not this, although i make it out for the most part. If your interested in the files just pm me your email address and I will send them over.

Could we even push a modified kernal/ramdisk to our phone I see lots of possibly good settings to tinker with.

lol i dont know how many more times i can explain it :P

you push power button
device powers on
loads the bootloader level 1
which then loads level 2
which then hash checks the boot kernel and recovery kernel
level 2 then hands off to normal boot operations (prolly level 3 or directly to boot kernel)

ANY changes to the kernel will result in a hash failure, regardless of how you flash it, its checking it on boot. it is however possible to forge a hash by collision. An Illustrated Guide to Cryptographic Hashes here is a quick little guide to trying to make an MD5 collision. keep in mind this guide is for newbies. you will need to edit the ramdisk and then pack it back up (also removing the padding) and hope it doesnt alter the md5 from what you were shooting for. oh yea, i almost forgot... since we dont even know what kind of hash they are using it makes it a bit harder since it may not even be using MD5 (could be SHA-0, SHA-1 etc etc).

in fact your ONLY shot at running init.d like tweaks would be if teh init.rc showed they launched some script in /system/etc during boot and you could then edit that script to do what you wanted/needed.

so yea my comment still stands, you can flash whatever you want to your kernel partition, just make sure you have sammyz firmware downloaded. otherwise you can enjoy the worlds fastest booting lg motion

edit: anyone wishing to test this theory feel free to unpack the stock boot.img and repack it, it only will remove the padding on the file and that alone will cause your device not to boot. its the same on the lg optimus elite, 4x HD, p700 and im sure many many others now
