Default Can't find pictures taken

I noticed yesterday that some of the pictures I'd taken early in the day were not in My Gallery. I've not gotten any notification on my phone about my memory card being full. I have a 4GB micro SD installed. It's showing me that I have 3.83GB Total Space and 2.57GB Available Space. I'm not sure how big each picture is & I do have some videos on it, so could it be that even the pictures are too big to store? When I took the pictures, it showed it going to the little box at the left hand corner of the screen. Yet when I tapped it to go to My Gallery, the pictures weren't there. Also, wouldn't it tell me I didn't have enough space before even letting me take the picture? Any insight would be more useful. Thanks so much!

Is your phone plugged in when you look for these pictures? When you plug your phone it, it makes a lot of the SD card (where pictures are stored) unavailable to the phone.

Default Nope

My phone hasn't been plugged in when I've looked for those pics. I was out & about when it happen the first time. I even tried deleting some other pics & vids to make more room, even though it showed me having enough, and that didn't work.

The Atrix 2 has 8 GB of internal storage that as far as the phone is concerned is your sd card. Your external MicroSD card is not where photos will go by default. If you are using the stock camera, they will go to a folder on your internal sd partition called DCIM. Plug in your phone and mount as storage. If you have a MicroSD card inserted, you should see two removable drives pop-up. The one with 8 GB capacity is where your pictures should be.

Some photo sync software also has settings to delete original photos from the device once they have been successfully copied from it. If you sync photos, you might try looking to see if there are any settings to do that and where your photos might have ended up.

Worst case scenario is that there is something wrong with the internal memory of your phone, but you'd see many more problems than just missing photos.

I had a similar issue, but it was with downloaded videos. They were in my gallery at first then I noticed they were gone one day. Using Root Explorer I looked for them on my sdcard, found them, ensured that folder was scanned by my gallery but they still wouldnt show up. My work around was to create a new folder and move them into it. Now not only are those in my gallery, all other vids ive d/l since are showing up too. Give that a shot

That's not true. Its either available or not, if its mounted its not available, not mounted then its available in full, plugged in or not.

Not so much....the internal memory is not recognized as the phones sdcard and is not where pics are stored. The phones internal memory is for apps only and is not accessible to us for anything else, including pictures. The folder name where pics taken with the oem camera app is correct though, but thats located on the sdcard. The Atrix 2 doesnt have partitions ur speaking of as the internal storage and sdcard storage are two different mediums, internal being non-removable and sdcard being removable.

Any Android Phone with greater than 2 GB of internal memory has it patritioned into two separate areas. One is the system partition where apps and user information is stored, the other is for data and is mounted at /sdcard. That, to the Android OS is the "sdcard" even though it's not actually a physical card. It is also the location where user data is placed by default.

The confusion is calling the internal data partition as "sdcard" which is a hold over from the days when phones did not have much internal memory. Trust me, /sdcard is the sd card location whether it is removable or not.

If that were true, as it pertains to the Atrix 2, then I should be able to remove my physical sdcard and still be able to take pictures, screenshots, etc., since /mnt/sdcard is not the actual physical sdcard, right? That's not possible. Unmount your sdcard, remove it, whichever you choose and try to take a picture and let me know how that works out for you (assuming you have an Atrix 2). With this phone you don't even have the option of saving to internal storage or to the sdcard because it's stored to the physical sdcard by default and we do not have access to the internal storage at all except for apps downloaded/installed on the phone. Technically we have 8gb of internal storage, but 4gb of that is for the OS, Webtop and pre-loaded apps and this partition is non-accessible to us. The other 4gb partition is available to us in the form I stated above, for apps downloaded/installed on the phone. Any media added to this phone does not get stored on either of those partitions as that is the internal storage and is non-accessible.

So any pictures, video, audio, or other non-app files that get stored on this phone are on the physical sdcard. Most other Android phones are as you say, the Atrix 2 is not one of them. But if you don't believe me, take your sdcard out of your phone, plug your phone in to your computer and proceed to find all your pics/videos/songs/files you have saved to it. And while you're at it, take a few pics and screenshots too. Good luck

If you don't have an Atrix 2 then you probably shouldn't be correcting me seeing as how I do and know how it works, with all due respect. This is not a pissing contest on my part, i'm just making sure the correct info is being put out since you seem to under the wrong impression of how this phones file system works. The misinformation could cause alot of headaches to those to don't know any better.

Talking Possible fix, worked for me

This may sound like a ridiculous approach but i had the same problem and i tried everything but the most obvious possible fixes. Iknew the files were there because ihad used astro to locate them. After restarting multiple times and clearing countless caches and data i tried just shutting my phone of completely, NOT RESTARTING, and somehow to my surprise the files were located. Hopefully that can help at least a few of you.

I've had this same issue recently. I believe it is an issue with the SD card (external). I may try a new SD card and see if that helps.
