Default Backflip at ATT

Many are telling me I should go with an android, and that since ATT only offers the backflip I don't really have a choice. Is this a good phone? Will I be able to do the tethering for free? Or will I have to pay extra monthly fee. Has ATT limited this phone in any way?

I upgraded from a molorola razor to the molorola backflip a couple moths ago. I had my razor for 4 years and was happy with the simple menus and easy navigation not to mention the user friendly interface, so when I went looking for an updated model (razor finally went kaput) the backflip hit me a little weird.

Needing web access from a mobile device I was concidering the iphone and the backflip. Iphone has been around a while but IMHO several drawbacks (no insurance #1 in my eyes). But the android software offered several fixes for most other "smart phones"... able to run multiple apps. Oh so handy.

Having used my backflip for a couple months now, I'm really happy with my choice. Love the full size keyboard with the ability to not have to use it if you don't want and so far I haven't downloaded any apps/games (why I joined the forum) yet, but love all the feathures so far. Haven't come across any limitations so far but I'm not into modifying my extentsively.

Battery life would be my only complain, but its not too bad if you stay off the net .

HTH

(Not associated with molorola, just happy with my phone)

In a few Hours AT&T will also have the HTC Aria.

There is no cell phone carrier in the US that does not charge extra for tethering according to their terms of service. Many tether with no extra charges, but are in violation ot the carrier's TOS.

I like my Backflip, but there are many who have them or tried them who don't. You'll get a better feel if you search and read the various forums than if you just post here and wait for replies.

ATT has butchered their Android phones. Removed Google from it and added Yahoo instead (and you can't change it back). Won't allow open source software and filled it with ATT software instead of Google's. Voice your concerns to them, or they will keep doing it. I am also an ATT customer ( who is considering changing companies if things don't change).

I personally love my backflip. Its my first smartphone so I really cant complain about all the locks ATT put on the android because I have never experienced them. Very durable , no complaints so far.

However, I really would love to use google instead of yahoo as main browser but whatever besides that fact its the best phone I've ever had. The features make it a very fun and functional phone.
