Default Stuck on Logo Screen

Hey Everyone!!

Ok here is the problem..

I bought a this phone from a friend of a friend... the phone was not working at the time, guy told me it needed a new battery so i got a new battery for the phone and now it works! Well when I turned it on, it had a screen lock!

I was trying to master reset the phone and thought I was doing it wrong so I took the battery out... then once I put the battery back in, it got stuck on the white screen with the motorola logo. I took the battery out for sometime and put it back in and it started up just fine but it never actually reset. When I go to reset it, then it gets stuck on the logo screen again..

Any ideas what I can do? Is there any other way to master reset the phone other than the camera button while powering up? Is there anyway to get around the screen lock? I was trying to avoid calling the guy I bought the phone from only because he lives about 45 minutes away and I'm going to end up having to take the drive up there unless he is coming back my way sometime soon.. OR do I just get rid of this phone?!?? I was sold on it because it has a flash and I needed something inexpensive!!!!

Sorry to be rambling just giving the background of this and would like to see if anyone can shed some light.. THANKS
