Default Background data

Hi. I got my Moto MB502 about 5 days ago and, like everyone else according to what I've been reading, I'm having battery issues.

I always have BT and wi-fi off unless I use it. Today I fully charged my phone and left my house at about 7:30am with a fully charged battery. Listened to the radio and then mp3 music for about 15 minutes in the bus, got to a cafe, connected to wi-fi for about 10 minutes and read some e-mails and logged in to facebook and then turned wi-fi off and my battery was 60%!! No f****** way it would last past 5pm.

Anyway, I'm thinking that if I turn off background data it will save me some battery.
My problem is that I really like the option to locate or wipe my phone thru the mymotoblur page in case someone "borrows" it without my permission, but this would not work.

Is there any way I can choose which apps can use background data?
