I was reading the post and also in ModMyMobile and found quite a few ROMs but am confused as to which one should I use? Can anyone guide me? Tell me which one is the best?
I saw some are having issues with the Camera Flash, Notification LED, and compass.
Can someone tell me which ROM has everything working? I dont mind whether that ROM has motoblur or not... I really dont care.
Thanks for this. I have the same user ID here that I had on motofail support forums. I have been banned, and I know for criticizing motofail and their products.
Now we can criticize them all we want and they can do squat about it.
Having played with these ROM's for a few days, I noticed a couple of things. The MotoBlur 2.1.54 bogs the phone down noticeacbly, and both the MotoBlur and adlx ROMs take significantly longer to boot up on the phone.
I had previously reported that I felt that there might be a problem with wi-fi on my phone when running the overclocking kernel and setcpu. I wish to set the record straight and note that I discovered the actual source of the problem: a cantankerous router. Time for a new one...
Again, loving the new MasterMind ROM! You guys are great! Thanks! I hope we'll see future upgrades (2.2, 2.3, etc..).
Anyone having trouble connecting to the Market through wi-fi with BBMM278-B2? It works well in 3G mode, but intermittent in wi-fi mode.

Reason: Updated info.
I'll release what happened here. I called t-mobile as described, talked to a manager, and was able to get my wife the LG Optimus T for $65 shipped to my door, no contract renewal or extension. IMO that's a pretty good offer considering I'm sure that phone is a lot more expensive than that, and the fact that the phone is $30 with a 2 year contract. Took a bit of talking, but I was able to get that much.
I still have a complaint filed with the BBB so I might even be able to get something else out of the deal, but we shall see. Oh, and I also took Moto up on their offer for the free bluetooth headset for shits and giggles. Funny thing is, they will send those basically anywhere. I'm sure if I gave them my wife's name at her friend's address, they'd send us another.
In any case, t-mobile is well aware of the problem and they are willing to help, unlike Moto. I'll keep you guys posted as to any progress I make with the BBB case.
Congratulations to all who are getting rooted, or getting deals - We deserve all the goodies they will give us, in light of all that has happened. I was blessed to get a 4G phone and am rooted and ROM'D, LOL. Now, I am so empowered that I feel confident to tackle the XT. It is a bit of a challenge because I have tried various iterations of Ubuntu etc and have yet to get it going. But I'm not daunted.
My excitement exists on several levels. I am a gyrl and being able to do this myself is a great confidence builder, LOL. The other thing is that I know that what happened to me with the Behold 2 and the XT ...having my phone left behind will never happen to me again!!! In fact, I am already reading up on Android 2.4 - there is talk that they may bypass 2.3 and call 2.4 Gingerbread - While the Android devs are preparing to meet the demands of the Dual-core phones, they want to make sure that the OS is backward compatible with single-core processor phones running Gingerbread - 2.4 will address this. ...All of this is *so* exciting!
I want to encourage people not to give up on getting a deal with Tmo. It took in the neighborhood of 10 or more calls before we got someone who would work with us. You have to stick to your guns and nicely demand what you deserve - to be treated fairly. Talk to RETENTION...not regular reps. Don't give up!
Remember the big sale coming up February 11th and 12th!!! There will be deals galore. Even now, Radio Shack is selling the G2 for $49.99 and the MT4G for $79.99. And I hear that there is a deal out there where you get 2 Free G2's for a 2yr contract extension. Check the web for details. By the sale date, I anticipate that prices will be rock bottom as inventory is cleared to make way for the new crop of phones for this year. Keep in mind that everyone has to compete with that new iPhone. So put your negotiator's hat on and go for it!
Keep in mind, that if you can present your case effectively, deals are primarily cut with Retention and not at the retail (in-store) level. CSR's (Customer Service Reps) are not empowered to do this...only Customer Retention Reps. It is their job to do all that they can to save your account and to keep you as a customer. In light of the recent Investor's meeting with the heads of the company, I would wager that there will be more of a push to keep customers onboard than in previous times.

Call to Arms: "DOWN WITH THE RUDDY BLACK M!"
This weekend is coming fast and it is a big sales weekend. Tmo news states that TMO is going to sell the CLIQ 2 for $0 after rebate. We need to flame whatever we can to get the word out. I suggest that we start here:
Just got banned from the moto forums for calling Motorola liars, thieves, scammers, and frauders. Quite appropriate if you ask me, and I wasn't the only one. I actually said it nicely too.
Quote:
I'm not attacking the messenger here. The moderators work for Motorola, and in that respect their opinions and their words are representative of Motorola as a corporate entity, not their own. Anything they say, anything they create under the employment of Motorola while working for motorola is Motorola's intellectual property. Its in the contract and the employee handbook I'm sure.
Therefore, they deserve every bit of backlash that any of us care to give them. They are here to represent Motorola, and we are here to represent those who have not spoken because they don't know of this site, and as representatives I don't feel there is a need to be calm, understanding, and considerate. Unfortunately in the corporate world, turning the other cheek only allows you to be taken advantage of, which is exactly what Motorola did.
We trusted them and trusted that they would follow through with their promise, and they broke that trust, broke that promise, and screwed us out of a great deal of money under the premise that it would be better for us. That is complete and utter BS and everyone here knows it. I'm sure even the moderators know it but because they work for Motorola, they cannot admit it. Like someone else said, we need transparency. If you're going to tell us there were technical problems, then by all means describe those technical problems because the unpaid community out there was able to root this phone with 2.1 in less time than it took you to tell us you can't. Sorry but if that's your only reason then that reflects a severe incompetence on your technical team at best, but knowing Motorola I don't think that's the case.
I think this came from higher up, and it was done to push people to buy a newer phone. Well, guess what Moto, it worked. We all did go out and buy a newer phone, and it wasn't and never again will be a Motorola phone.
What's wonderful about this all is that there has been absolutely no denial on Motorola's part that this was promised to customers when the phone was sold. Since I live in Chicago, I'm still heavily considering walking into the front door of the Motorola office around here and demanding some real answers. I think your tones might change when you see me face to face.

We may watch them crash and burn as thousands of users dump them for the iPhone? Then add those XT users who were shafted who will never purchase from them again. Next, stir in a healthy dose of negative press and negative word of mouth. Then, fold in that split that puts them on their own without a paddle... And top all of that off with the field of fail that they call their "lineup" and you can almost time how long it will take until they announce..."We're outta here"

I joined again to post a reply which voilated no forum rules, and was banned again. I'm not wasting my time with that forum. I've submitted complaints with the BBB, FTC, FCC, and NMPRC.
I just want to say how amazing it is that my phone's batterly life has amazingly tripled since rooting. I already knew the happenings widgets are battery, memory, and bandwith hogs but this is still amazing how long it can last. Now I don't need to carry an extra battery everywhere I go since it won't die on me after 7 or so hours.
Well, I picked up a HTC HD2 off Craigslist. Yeah, I know, Windows Mobile, but, I flashed one of the many Android ROMS on it that is based on the HTC Desire HD. Phone is running great with Android and I got a great price on it.
Buh Bye MotoFAIL.
It still amazes me that the folks at ModMyMobile.com can come up with newer (2.2, 2.3) ROMS faster and better than MotoFail could do with a bunch of paid "professionals". My guess is, they actually have monkeys over there at Moto making the ROMS and every once in a while, they make something that kinda works.
I also read that the XOOM does not have Flash support. I guess MotoFAIL can't even get that right.

I will be getting my 2 mt4g's this week and the 2 crappy bt headset from moto for my inconvenience. might just sell those to help pay for the mt4g's.
Someone out there has been working on a 2.3 rom for the xt I think they are close to getting it to work.
File this under: "I don't know how long this will last"
Get a free bluetooth for your troubles from Moto? The guy in Support said that Moto is "sorry" about the update not happening. So, they're sending me a free headset. If you want one, give Moto Smartphone Support a call and tell them that you are one of the people adversely affected by the lack of the XT upgrade. Ask about the free bluetooth headset. They will ask for your XT IMEI#, where to send it and that's it. In case you're wondering, the headset is the H17txt model.
Called Moto Android Support at 800-658-1318 to ask about an H17txt for my troubles, since I own two Cliq XT's which won't be upgraded, and I was told by Moto Rep "Yancy," number 347010, that it is up to T-Mobile to do this. Any ideas, folks?
Also, I've had the BBMM278-B2 ROM running on both my XT's for a month now, and my girlfriend and I are delighted. The ROM works well, and any troubles I posted about earlier were erroneous because I was in error. Great stuff!
@MasterMind - any possibilty of a 2.2 ROM on the future? :-)

Well I personally won't be working on a 2.2 ROM, I have been quite busy with classes and still trying to get all the bugs on the AOSP 2.1 [I will not be releasing it till it's all ironed out, so it's a bit of the waiting game for me to have time and debug- (at a minimum it won't be out till the last week of March). Nonetheless, there is a Froyo (2.2) rom on M3 as well as Gingerbread (2.3) CM7. Both of those are getting really close to having everything working quite properly, especially Gingerbread.

With a name like CLIQ XT, one would think this phone would be a larger or more heavily powered version of Motorola's first ever Android - the Motorola CLIQ. But in reality the Motorola CLIQ XT is a different beast entirely, ditching the slideou... Read More
