Default Would you buy a Droid 2 again?

If you could go back in time, would you buy a Droid 2 again?

My wife and I are on Page Plus because we are very LIGHT users of the phone/text/data services. But we do rely on the PDA portion of our smartphones quite heavily.

I've got a Droid X, and she has a Samsung i760. She'd stick with the Samsung until it literally fell apart, but I'm so happy since I made the switch from the i760 to the X that I'd like to move her up to Android too. However, she absolutely hates virtual keyboards so another Droid X is out of the questions.

One of the features she loves about the i760 is the slide-out keyboard, which is why I'm considering the Droid 2. The lack of 4G would not be an issue for her. Nor would Froyo vs. Gingerbread - though I'm especially pleased since my phone got upgraded to Gingerbread.

Droid 2's are available new-in-box at a reasonable price from several vendors, but I'd like to hear from some owners before buying.

How was your experience with the Droid 2? Would you do it again?

If I didn't care about the locked bootloader, I would certainly buy another one. If you don't care about loading custom kernels you will do just fine with a D2. The build quality is great, the slideout keyboard is nice. I would also recommend getting FlexT9 and she may give up on the slide out, that's how I got my wife to go with a phone without a physical keyboard.

Anyway, it is a good phone and mine was updated to GB. Your wife will be good with it.

My in laws hate theirs. Phones restart all the time, updates have broken their phones, etc.
I have no personal experience, well, except when fixing them.

Thanks for the information. I knew that the D3 had a locked bootloader, but wasn't aware that it was locked on the D2 as well. Not that it matters. My wife isn't the least bit adventurous when it comes to technology. I'm not ever sure I can convince her to try Android, and there isn't a snowball's chance in Hades that she'd ever consider letting me install a custom ROM on her phone. The only reason she even agreed to CM7 on the Nook is because she can take out the micro-SD and still boot it up as a stock Nook.

Heck, I'm worried that she'll freak out if the phone upgrades to GB!!!

Does the D2 have Swype? I'm not familiar with FlexT9, but she's seen me use Swype on my X and that might persuade her to try the virtual keyboard a few times.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, if that happened to her, I'd be dead meat. LOL!
