Default Change Text Message Layout

Is there any way to change the layout so it is more like the stock text message app? Right now i can only see 3 or 4 text messages before they start getting pushed off the screen. I would prefer a tighter configuration like the stock Androids have.

I don't think the stock messaging app allows too many customization options. You can download other apps such as handscent sms that allow for much more tweaking
