Thumbs up Dropbox usage and referral

I haven't seen a thread on this forum directly about Dropbox. If you aren't using it you should be, it's a great tool to share files across all platforms (pc, phones, etc). You get 2 gigs of storage space free, if you use the referral below you will get a 250mb upgrade for signing up.

If others want to put their referral links feel free!

Dropbox is ok, but I prefer Sugarsync. Dropbox forces you to use their folder for file syncing. Sugarsync allows you to sync your existing folders.

Sugarsync gives you 5 GB free - signup HERE.

I'll toss mine in the mix. Could use the extra 250 mb if you use my link. Of course you will get an extra 250 mb as well!

After comparing the two, I still prefer Sugarsync. It gives you more flexibility, and I think your data is more secure.

I have tried both, and I think both are fine. I am not sure why you think that SugarSync is more secure - their user policies are similar to DropBox's. If you want security, then SpiderOak is probably the best choice (though I understand that the Android app is not all that good.)

I have decided on Dropbox (I pay for 50 GB of storage), but mostly because the Mac app uses less system resources than the SugarSync app (the last that I checked), and because there are far more third-party apps that support using Dropbox for syncing than support SugarSync. That said, it's a minor tipping point for me - both apps are very good.
