Unhappy droid 3 wont turn on

I have a droid 3 that won't turn all the way on. Sometimes I can get the motorola sign to come on & a couple I got to see the main screen. I got an external battery charger so I know the battery is charged 100%. I also tried a new battery & sim card which made no difference. I did notice that around the sim card area in the back gets hot when I try to start it a few times. I also saw a white light where the cord plugs in that I have never seen before. I would very much appreciate any help!! Thanks

If that doesn't help, you can also use the same procedure to try a wipe data/factory reset. Just a warning that this means setting everything up again from scratch, so it's a last resort thing...

Unhappy Thanks for the help...

I tried the ideas you guys gave me, but they didn't work. I assume the screen should have lit up & selected options from there but nothing happened. Is there anything else I could try or is it a goner?
