Default Motorola is pissing me off.

I mean COME on!!!

Give me some freaking news, I don't even care if it is saying that the release date has been pushed back.

Do you realize Motorola that you are pissing me off to the point where I am considering going to HTC Thunderbolt for a 1 year contract and bypassing your Bionic?

I mean COME ON RELEASE SOME INFORMATION ALREADY!!!

Is it that hard? I love Motorola, I love your phones, and I think you are a wonderful company, but this silence crap is going to make me flip you off and never spend money with you again!!!

YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN!!!

*Sorry, just pissed off at the lack of info from the DEVELOPER of this phone*

And no I am not kidding, if I don't hear any news within about 3-4 days I am going to just go to the Thunderbolt, I have waited nearly 6-8 months now to upgrade and I am getting tired of their bullshit.

I'm with you, I'm tired of waiting & checking forums everyday 24/7. With that being said I guess Motorola can't really release the date until Verizon wants them too. I would at least like something...I'm trying so hard not to get the TB but c'mon!

Whoa fellas, down from the ledge! As a current TB owner intending on returning my phone and waiting for Bionic's release, you may want to reconsider. I was exactly in your shoes waiting and waiting for news of TB's release. Rumored dates would come and go. It was maddening to be sure. And now, after one week I am prepared to return what I agonized over for so long.

I just can't take constant monitoring of my phone usage do to babying the dang battery. Also, when using TB in speaker phone mode, mounted in the car dock, I can barely understand what is being said by the caller.

I love so many things about TB...really I do. The kickstand is absolutely genius (IMO). But I am going to take a leap of faith in favor of Bionic, with the hope that the larger battery and Moto vs. HTC case history for battery life will prevail.

Otherwise I'm gonna be pissed.

I know, but see the problem is we haven't been told ANYTHING, not even an official release date that was then moved back.

We have been given absolutely 100% NOTHING by Motorola or Verizon...

It is stupid, this phone is supposed to be coming in a month or two, WHY is there no more information on the net about it?

I feel EXACTLY the same way as you do right now.

But i got it worst.

You see atleast you probably have a smartphone of sorts with a data plan. I dont. Im still rocking a Palm Centro for just under 3 years now, and have never owned a smartphone. My upgrade was due in May of 2010. So the wait for me is even more brutal. The whole reason for me wanting to get a smartphone is cause of the Bionic itself. Its sexiness drew me in, and i cant stop thinking about it since news came out. I also really like the TB after the Bionic drew me into the smartphone scene, but to get a TB now would kind of be unsatisfying after the long few months i have endured so far.

However if the Bionic can be released by the end of April, i think i can wait it out without dying.

I really think they are trying to pull an Apple type announcement really. Like releasing their product just weeks prior to announcing it.

Yeah, they may be trying to, but it is still super frustrating...

I don't mean to laugh...because I truly feel your pain. Do you see the post hit count for the Thunderbolt board? Most of those posts are people agonizing over no official release date and rumor speculation..."Black Man X says this..." and "I work at a store and I'm hearing this..." Now I'm back to coming on this board everyday (just like I did TB) looking for morsels of information. I must be some sort of masochist!

Eventually I started coming to the message board as a form of therapy. I tried not to get pulled in to the hysteria and excitement of the new device, but there I was showing up to the Verizon store and hour before opening on release day. I even took 4 hours off work to do it.

I wish I could say the waiting gets easier. There were a bunch of Thunderbolt hopefuls jumping ship waiting for release. Let's just hope that we don't start hearing about technical issues with Bionic. Once those rumors started about TB, the delays did too. But people were quick to point out that Verizon never actually set a firm date. I see the same with Bionic. They most likely will hit their mark on the wide scale...Q2...but pinning down a day on the calendar is going to be maddening.

So I went through with my idea and got a Thunderbolt.

Tonight I connected it to WiFi to download apps (had to stop and restart all of them though).

When I left to go to a friends place (NOT in a 4G area at all!), the phone lost the wireless network and apparently cannot/will not reconnect to 3G

I have rebooted the phone stopped and restarted the radio, and turned off and performed a battery pull.

Still no dice.

This phone is NOT ready for prime time and I will be taking it back tomorrow.

I can see issues with 4G, but 3G tech has been out for years, they should have that fixed.

All of this is business as usual for Verizon. I see nothing that strays from the last 5-10 releases.

As for the date...I want August 23 for the pool.

I would bet verizon is holding off on other 4G phone releases until it sees how the network is handling the TB and 4G modems where they have 4G up and running. They don't want an AT&T type debacle.

I'm def with you guys, the lack of info is killing me. I've even avoided this site for the better part of the week, and still not one peep about the Bionic. It's driving me insane. This is either the best marketing ploy by a phone company...or the worst.

The best marketing builds hype, not a pissed off customer base. However; we aren't even close to a significant percentage of said base. Most people don't care when this phone is coming out until an incompetent Verizon rep tells them it is the best thing since sliced bread. We had this same problem with the Incredible; it's release was confirmed a week before launch. I think we can give some of this blame to the recent release of the iPhone and Verizon/Apple's attempt to keep it hyped up. Having said all of that, I am getting annoyed with Motorola.

I almost started a topic on this very subject. I would have titled it "Where's the Love". I am quite surprised how much less traffic the Bionic board has compared to the Thunderbolt board, even as far as two months before the release. I wonder why there isn't as much interest. Is Blur really that bad? (I've never had a Moto phone)

Much of the interest would come from the development community. There is a great deal of disappointment and even anger at Moto's locked bootloader. Unlock the phone and the interest would go through the roof. Keep it locked down, and folks will spend their money elsewhere, even if Moto is the better device (which I defintely think it is).

Yep, tired of waiting but they did say it wouldn't be out until Q2 and I believe Q2 starts April 1st. Well we've waited this long, what's another month (maybe).

Engadget normally has when mobile phones get submitted for FCC approval (shortly before release) and so far they haven't said anything. So prob. be a late April release.

Does suck they don't say anything, prob. some kind of deal with Verizon so that they can maximize profits from all new 4G phones (no overlapping releases).

I've felt the exact same way. It's been kinda boggling. I still don't know how an educated phone enthusiast (which I feel is a safe bet to call most users of this site) would be so hyped on the TB when the Bionic wasn't too far behind...

...but I think that's hitting the nail on the head. So many people have become disenfranchised with Moto. Me personally, and this has been argued over many times in the OG Droid's root community, I just want my phone to work the way I need it to. I may be able to flash a custom ROM with the TB, but I'll never get the battery life I want out of it. I'll still be able to flash ROMs with the Droid, just not one's with built in kernels. It's going to be hands down the better phone, so that's where I'm going.

EDIT: Just to clarify what I meant about the OG Droid root community, back when there was a lot of talk about kangerz and such steal other people's work and branding it as their own after some retooling, there were quite a few of us that didn't have dev loyalty. Whatever ROM worked best on our Droids was what we went with. Much the same, which ever phone is gonna ultimately be best for me (i.e. the better phone) is gonna be the way I go.
