Default New phone? .902 can it be rooted?

I have two weeks before I have the $$$ to get a new phone (tax refund). By that time all the phones will be running .902.

So will I be able to root a new phone that hasn't run the older versions?

If you are coming from 5.5.893 rooted with forever root in place you will keep root. If you just flash .902 I don't think that you can root it yet.
