Was on .232 and used House of Bionic to go to .246, no issues at all so far. Not seeing any differences either.

Well this thread has been a success so far lol. Who cares if you're waiting. You're all likely to be waiting for a long time, it's going to take a while.

What issues are you expecting OP? Moto had to refine this release to death to get it past Verizon. Why start a thread ahead of time just to ask people to point out issues. You know the Android community, the second someone notices a bug, everyone will be talking about it. No real need for a thread like this.

Well they did get .905 release which had a very bad issue with the data, so explain to me how they got that passed?

Also I made this thread to have one location to were people can go to see if there are issues with the new update instead of looking around a bunch of threads and forums.

Actually 905 didn't have a bad issue with data. The data issue that had been seen previously reappeared around the same time as 905's soak test, but many of us were still on 902 when the data issue was seen. The data issues were Verizon side.

Remember, the data drop issue was NEVER Bionic specific. All of Verizon's early 4G models saw it. The Nexus, the Razr's, etc. It is merely that Bionic is the last to get the patch to fix the data issues which seemed to be caused by authentication issues where as all the other phones have already gotten it.

This Is Why Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Or Other 4G LTE VZW Phone) Is Losing Its Data Connection

Hey, I'm sorry about the spontaneous national update check-in.
I guess many of us are just antzy for some rich, creamy ICS.

My gf updated her bionic this morning, and it successfully completed. But she's having a lot of problems. When she tries to open any texting app, it just comes up blank and freezes the phone, requiring a battery pull. And the phone will just randomly freeze and need a battery pull. She can make calls sometimes, and sometimes it will just not work. If she receives a text, no notifications come up, but she will hear the notification tone but she can't see the text.

Did she get the update OTA or download from somewhere? What messaging app? Is she rooted or stock? Did she restore any data and how?

Your going to have to do a Factory Data Reset I'm afraid.

I'm on the .232 leak now. I'm creating a thread about my experience. As of now I do not plan on doing the ota update and have the phone blocked from updating.

Oh no! I wonder what happened.. I wish her phone was rooted so that I could have made a full backup before the update. What is recommended for backing up the phone?

I did a clean install and the first run was buggy, I dis a factory reset and it helped. I know you did the ota and I ran a leaked version. I think it's best to run on a clean slate anyways.

Please let us know how it went if and when you do your reset and get your apps all loaded and set up.

Yeah I'm sure that a clean slate would be better, but you would think that their upgrade would work. For people that don't know anything about root, they'd have to lose all of their data.

Well, anytime a major update takes place such as going from gb to ics, it's probably best to just get a fresh start regardless of rooting abilities and data back ups. People may have luck in doing so, but I'm a fanatic about running on a clean slate especially with a major update.

Do you recommend us, that want to do the FDR route along side the update, to do the FDR before or after applying the update? Been a while since I did the .905 update on my phone so my memory is vague on how the update is applied OTA.

FIRST, I backed up all my data. With screen shots of how I want my homescreens to look.

AFTER getting the update, I did a factory data reset and it's great! You can lose data stored on your internal card on a FDR.

Ahhh... it's the Rezound all over again!

The answer to 98% of all your problems will be a Factory Reset, even if you don't have any problems, you should do a factory reset after receiving the update via OTA, because other things could be going in the background you don't see immediately and might just "blame it on ICS" when it is something else with an app, this was common on the Rezound showing battery drain, heat build up, poor connection, proximity sensor issues, and other stuff, and a factory reset fixed them all.

It sucks, but it is the best practice anytime a major change to the OS occurs.

And one word of advice, do not restore apps from a backup of GB into ICS, and definitely do not restore apps+data and/or settings, it will just put bad data back into your nice clean ICS firmware! It's a real pain, but reinstall and run once every app manually.

Just some works of advice from someone who has gone through this recently, take it or leave it, just trying to help.

(Lurking in thread because my son has a Bionic and is impatiently awaiting the OTA update!)

Question Lost Update after Factory Reset

I received the update notification on Friday October 19th. Unfortunately, after two attempts at applying the update on my rooted phone, I found that I could not apply the update. I decided that I would apply a .905 FXZ to return to stock, I thought maybe root was keeping me from successfully updating. Sadly, after booting back into stock, I was could no longer find the ICS update, even through the manual update check.

It seems a bit strange to me that no one has yet posted the official .406 OTA for manual update. From what I understand, one has to simply copy the update file from the \cache folder prior to applying the OTA update. Hope someone with a bit of insight can manage this for some of us sooner than later.

Got this notification when I was downloading... I figured 3g would take all night, so I fired up the wi fi. It says suspended and will resume shortly. But that was 15 min ago. Am I just being impatient? Or can I jump start the process anyhow?

I did the manual system update check and it popped up as there being an update ready for download. I am not going to install it until I get home from work but I would like to help the community out for those still waiting. Can someone link me to the page with the steps to pull the update off my phone for other people to use the file to update their phone too?

I too have been having trouble applying the update. I have successfully downloaded the 368MB file several times (unlimited data - what do I care) and I even copied the file to the SD card, but how do I get the system to attempt to apply it? I have tried to simply reboot but that doesn't work. I am traveling out of the country now and don't have a PC to use adb.

I do not like the dock software in ICS! Wow, what a difference! Is there a good alternative dock software anyone is aware of? I used to like the productivity screen with the calendar feature and side options... Unrooted, ota ICS...

This is part of the Moto Blur launcher... you will need to try a different launcher, GO Launcher, Nova, Apex, Holo, or any other number of launchers are available in the Play Store.

Oh, and Factory Reset... (I will say this a lot in this thread!)

I like Amazon MP3 because it can group by tracks with each album.

Thanks - I liked that one too, but I have pre made playlists in the Boinic's music player (Driving music, etc) and I wanted to be able to access those... Couldn't seem to access the phone's playlists through the Amazon one. Might be a good stopgap though.

I've never used it ... I always see it as albums and tracks ... is it what you were looking for?

Yes. Discussed here in other threads. One person reported it went away after a Factory Data Reset.

OK. I have an actual issue after the ICS OTA. (No... Not headphones whining. That's not my problem. lol)

Charging. I have been using a non motorola USB charger (Easy... it always worked before lol) and I have been unable to charge past 20% after I was fully ICS'd.

When I get home, I will try the actual Moto charger and cable (USB as well as wall outlet), and also try wall a non Moto wall outlet and see if that makes any difference.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Not going to go through another FDR. I hope they release a fix for it. Even though the music quality is crap on this phone, I still use it frequently. I don't want to have to pay $100 for an iPod, and carry it around w/my phone.

I had that problem on the 232 leak. Try turning off your phone and charging it.

I had 232, went back to 905, now installed 246 OTA. Did a factory data reset, installed all my apps again, no problems that i've noticed yet. it may just be in my head, but it seems snappier than the 232 leak.
