Default Duplicate texts with ICS

Since upgrading to ICS, I am getting duplicate copies of most texts. I use Handcent SMS but the duplicates show up in the Text Messaging app too. I have notifications disabled in it.

Anyone else having this issue since the upgrade? Any suggestions on how to fix, short of a factory reset?

I know you don't want to hear it ... it is strongly advised that EVERYONE do a Factory Data Reset after upgrading to ICS.

This creates a clean starting point that is reliable. Without it you will end up "chasing your tail" for the next few days, weeks, or months until you finally give in and do it.

I believe in the stock app you need to have both Auto-Retrieve and Notification un-checked. It's been a while since I used Handcent.
