Why would this be necessary?

If I was a conspiracy theory guy, I'd say So it can take pictures of you when you're sleeping.

I thought of that too since i use it a lot while on the can.

So when you launch the camera app to take a photo, you don't wait several seconds longer for the app's resources to fully load.

But is it worth it for the camera app to take 17% of the CPU while it's waitiing? ICS already sucks way too much juice.
