Default discounted maxx for the patient ones...

$199 - that is what I wanted to pay for the Maxx, not $299. Here are two options for the more patient people.

Amazon

Wirefly

NOTE: Neither of these places currently have them in stock, of course that will change.

Edit- I ordered thru Amazon and it states this - "DELIVERY ESTIMATE: WE NEED A LITTLE MORE TIME TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A GOOD ESTIMATE." Originally when I ordered it said Oct 8 but the CSR I spoke with said that isn't accurate.

go to bestbuy and have them pricematch that price. don't buy from wirefly/amazon, they have secondary contracts you enter on top of the VZW contract.

I appreciate the advice but I like Amazon and have ordered phones from them before. A six month lock in with either company doesn't phase me, I'm not a flakey wireless subscriber.

Plus it's probably better to wait for me personally anyways.

I don't know if they will match a pre order or a company that doesn't have them in stock. Would need to call and find out

I got mine for essentially $199 right from Verizon. Here's how. Motorola has a trade in program wherein if you bring a specified Motorola device to the Verizon store, they give you a $100 gift card with purchase of the Maxx. So I bought one of the listed phones on eBay for $10 and used that for the trade-in. Worked like a charm!

Here's the link to the Motorola program: http://www.mototradeup.com/

i meant if you wanted to move the phone to a line with unlimited data, you couldn't at amazon/wirefly (without paying the ETF on the 2nd contract), but you could at bestbuy (there's no second contract). and bestbuy will pricematch amazon.

Interestingly, both Amazon and Wirefly are showing me eligible for my upgrade now, but Verizon says it's not until the 28th. And both have it for $199. I'm going to check out a Moto X at an AT&T store this weekend, and unless it blows me away, I'll come home and order my Maxx from Amazon. My only worry is that it's out of stock. But I suppose if I have to wait a week or so, it's worth it to save $100....

Did the preorder today at Best Buy Mobile. They priced matched the $199 price no questions asked. I asked about them price matching Radio Shack or Wirefly and he said no problem. They had no idea when they would start shipping.

Im still wondering if i should have walked out with the Galaxy S4 for $150. He said they would price match Amazon on the GS4.
Id rather deal with BB as well, especially after reading some of the negatives about dealing with Wirefly.

Yes, the phone was activated on the spot (it was an upgrade). Phone doesn't have to work, AFAIK. I think the plan is supposed to required the VZW store to give you a Verizon gift card which can be used later to pay your bill or buy accessories. However, my store didn't really know about the deal so they just took $100 off the price of the phone.

Just called a BBuy in Lex KY and they said that they wont price match Wfly due to the secondary contract that WF makes you sign.

I had him write on my reservation paper work that it was a price match at $199. I asked if the price changed at either retailer before the phone ships, if they would still do the price match and he said not to worry.

We will see what happens when the phone comes in. With this deal being plastered on various sites and im sure plenty of people trying to take advantage of it, maybe they will begin scrutinizing their price matching policy a little more.

Oh well the $50 dollar deposit is refundable or transferable to a different phone. I will probably grab the S4 for $150 if i have to pay $299 for the Maxx.

LOL I'm sorry. "Patient ones?" What does "patient" mean?

My DAY ONE record is proudly unblemished. BB Storm > Droid Incredible > Galaxy Nexus > Droid Maxx.

I'm breaking my record too - BB 9000, d.inc, gnex. Honestly had they been $100 cheaper I probably would have waited then also.

DX, Bionic, Droid Maxx all on day one. I do my research and get it on release. So far, no problem and I don't want to wait weeks or months to save $50 or $75.

I'm trying to upgrade through Wirefly but the Share Everything plans aren't showing up...I want Unlimited Talk/Text & 4GB shared data (maybe 6 but not sure), but my options are 4GB w/ Hotspot + 1000msg, or 5GB no Hotspot +1000msg. Why is there not an unlimited messaging option? I tried calling customer service but I had to hang up on the guy because he wasn't understanding what I'm talking about.

Does anyone have a ship date from Amazon or Wirefly yet? Trying to decide if I want to order one or just go to a corporate store and buy one.

They were showing October 9th for a while. There's NO WAY that can be right! (Right???) Is Amazon playing games with this model? Or is Verizon playing games with Amazon?

I called 3 local BBuys and they all said that they wouldn't match WF. Newegg does have it right now for 179 but they also make you keep the number for 6 months. Asked BB if they will price match Negg and the girl said manager would but they dont have any in stock. I guess I'll wait for stock.

Just placed my order on Newegg. Will update this thread as I hear.

I was tempted to just go to a corporate store and buy one for $300, but I can wait a week or two to save $120. It's not like I *need* this thing, my Rezound still works perfectly.

Newegg Link for anyone wanting a print out.
DROID MAXX by MOTOROLA for Verizon Wireless - Newegg.com Wireless Store

I think we all should have waited till BB had them in stock before hounding them for price matches. Hopefully they will send out some emails this week saying they have them in stock.

Newegg looks to be the same as Wirefly and Radioshack, going through a 3rd party called Simplexity.

I just ducked into my local BB and they told me they no longer match prices on contract phones. Safe to say it varies from store to store.

Thanks for this info! I had to work at it a bit but I ordered mine today from my regular store which was out of stock. I got the same $100 off!

The official name of the promo is "Motorola $100 device recycle promo", or close to that. The store knew nothing about it. The manager called his boss then his moto rep, who gave him the correct code. They put the promo code into vzw's regular trade in program that isn't very good. The 2 trade in phones are droid3 and X2 to get the $100 when you buy one of the razors or one of the new droids.

It was worth the effort to get the store personnel up to speed.

So, thanks davpel!

Hmm.... So I checked Newegg to see the status of my order just now, and it isn't there! I'll have to wait till I get home and get the order number from the confirmation email I got from them and try to look it up that way. They have my previous orders from earlier in the year, but not the Maxx.

Also, it looks like it's up to $229 now.

Also, it looks like it's up to $229 now.
OK, false alarm, I guess the "wireless store" is separate from the regular Newegg. I found it. Still no ship date, though.

And it is $229 for new orders.

alot of verizon phones are qualifying for 30% off with promo code VERIZON30. the promo code box wasnt popping up while i was trying to order it online through verizon so i called verizon to check on it. the person i talked to said that promo code cant be used until Sept 3 which just so happens to be the day online vzw orders are supposed to ship. so assuming 3rd party orders havent shipped by then, you may be able to get almost the same price by using this promo at that time and choosing to pick it up in store.

Just went through the order process but didn't see a promo code entry point so I did the online chat thing. answer "we do not currently have a promo code for the maxx at this time."

This is really trying my patience. Are any of you going to jump ship and get the Moto X on Verizon? Or is the Maxx worth the wait?

Well, I could walk into a corporate store and buy one right now if I get THAT impatient. X is still mail-order only.

I'm going to wait till 9-3. If I don't have a ship date from New egg by then, well, we'll see....

The Maxx is worth the wait for build quality IMHO.

People are different.

I think they are both now in your Verizon Corporate store. Both are VERY nice.

I suggest you go handle them both and I bet the instant you pick the one up that is best for you you will know it.

The one you pick for you might not be the one I picked for me.

The OP was about paying $199 as opposed to $299 not really about the wait. I paid 299 for the gnex the day it came out I paid 299 for the razr maxx hd soon after it came out and I dont want to pay 299 again for the newest flagship.
I think since motorola is pushing the x and there doesnt seem to be huge interest in the maxx, 199 is a legit price for a great phone. yes I'll wait no big deal ive got a great phone right now.

Anyone else think it is a bit ridiculous that those of us that pre-ordered (Aug 11 for me) still don't have a phone in our hands while verizon has units sitting on thier shelves.

We may have ordered 3rd party, but that still doesn't seem right.

Moto, I've been a loyal customer and bought phones on release day though 3rd parties... why this time have you not decided to ship to them?

Frustrated.
