Default Would Moto X skip work on this phone?

I would think so? Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know. I've thought about buying one to check.

I know that the Maxx allows for trusted Bluetooth unlocking, but I'm not sure about NFC unlocking. I don't see that option. I believe that the skip uses NFC rather than Bluetooth; I may be wrong about that...

The app is in the app store right now, but restricted to Moto X devices for download. In theory, yes it will work given that the Moto X and the Droid Maxx share the same hardware.
