Default MMS causes messaging to crash

A friend of mine just sent me an MMS (it looks to be a picture via the messaging app). When I clicked on his name to look at my messages from him, it immediately went back to the main messaging screen and popped up the message "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped." When I click "OK", the messaging app force closes. Any ideas if this is a bug or if I need to change some setting in my phone to fix this?

I've not experienced this yet but I've only had 2 MMS received since I've had my Maxx. Both came through without a hitch. Hopefully it was a one time glitch.

Let us know if it happens again.

If you did not install the update ... please take a screenshot of the bottom of the About phone screen (ending with Android version) and post it.

Thank you.

Default It was a vcard from an iphone

I just talked to my friend. He uses an iPhone and tried to send me a vcard with all of his contact information. I have the latest updates on my phone.

I've been having the same issue. Friends have sent picture messages (which I received at the time) but now when I go back to look at, it crashes. I can read all the other messages in the thread, but as soon as I scroll to a picture reply, it crashes.

I had this problem last month. I had my text messaging limit set to 5000. I lowered it to 2500 and the problem went away.

I have mine set to 1000. What I did last night is a "recovery boot" and that seemed to have worked. It's still working right now so we'll see how long it lasts.

Try using the new Hangouts as well since it will replace stock messenger as primary SMS/MMS with Kit Kat.

Right now most of my contacts aren't using hangouts so when I try, it says invite friend... When will the Droid Maxx have the kit Kat update anyway?

Well I had to reboot my phone twice today because of the MMS messages crashing my text. When I do a recovery reboot, it works temporarily.. I just got the hangouts update that integrates text messaging. Let's see if that helps.
