Anyone know how to tell if it is JB or ICS? I"ve never seen JB jet. Looks like ICS on my wife's Maxx.

Edit, found this on ZDNET:
It took them look enough, but with the next release of Android, Jelly Bean, Google has finally brought its Chrome Web browser to Android.
Google brought its popular Chrome Web browser to Android Ice Cream Sandwich as a beta feature earlier this year. Today, at Google Input/Output, Google quietly showed that Chrome will now be built into Jelly Bean.

So, I don't think VZW would put a beta chrome on the HD with ICS, so I guess it might be JB?

The write up from Droid Life does say that it's ICS but I suppose they could be mistaken.

I like to hope that it's going to be Jelly Bean!

But to me, not a huge deal either way, because if it's ICS, I positive that JB will be in the Razr HD's not to distant future.

It is ICS. If you look at the search bar on the home screen it is not the one for Jelly Bean. Also, chrome is out of beta.

The current Razr design reminds me of the old 19th century wood caskets (the corners). Which I suppose you would like.

Both the current and leaked Razr form factors are fine for me. I do agree the current devices have a ton of bezel but that's been beat to death. But I would sacrifice thin for smaller bezel personally.

I'm starting to get cold feet about paying full retail though. I just bought and restored these bad boys and it nicked me a little.

You know, I never really looked at it that way, but it might actually be one of the reasons I like it. I was more or less thinking of the design making the phone stand out. There is an AMC (movie theater) that I take the kids to and they have a poster, about their app, in the lobby. In the poster there is an iPhone to represent the iOS app and a Moto Razr to represent the Android app. The poster makes me smile every time I see it. The subtle differences make the Razr stand out as such a different phone from the iPhone. Regardless of the lawsuits and the arguments, there are a lot of phones that don't really differentiate themselves from the iPhone with just the form factor. I'm not saying that there is blame to be had as there are only so many designs that can be used for a rectangular phone. Moto did come up with something different though and I think that is pretty cool. It isn't easily confused by anyone with half a brain and it still looks good. Not a easy task these days to be original.

The phones are side by side in the poster, but this gives you an idea.

Nice drums, btw.

You're 110% correct. For all the crap Moto takes from the hardcore Android community, there's no denying the uniqueness of the Razr's form factor. Period.

The kevlar back sure will set it apart from everything else.
If they put the Razr in front of the iPhone, the scale would be better...iPhone is way smaller than the Razr, screen and all.

Hah! You're so right! That pic makes the iPhone look like a Note. And talk about bezel...

It appears to me that they made the iPhone bigger so that the screen sizes on the two phones would be comparable. (the same size) If they made both phones actual size the writing on the iPhone would be much smaller.

Do you think whoever made and approved the poster might be an apple person?

Regarding the new videos leaked. It appears the person changed closed the acct and then re-opened it again under a different user name. The day they were posted I watched them then the videos were pulled because I went back later and they were gone and the profile was closed. Now it looks like there back under a diff profile. LOL

Also regarding that pic of the iphone against the Razr that is really deceiving. Current iPhone is tiny screen 3.5 actual screen is a whole lot smaller than the Razr.

There is a new video of on youtube of someone taking measurements with a electronic ruler of the new iphone 5 glass plate. It was funny cause I was comparing it to my droid incred 1 and based on screen size it was only a tiny bit larger than my Inc 1.

Here it is:

4" is so 2 years ago Android wise. Probably more. My 2year DX is 4.3.
I wonder how the taller screen will work? I.e. it's still 2" wide which seems smart for compatibility with docks etc.

I thought I would like a 4" screen until I went to Staples the other day and put my RAZR and a Bionic that was on display next to an Inc 4G.

4.3" screen is the smallest I can do now. Once you use a bigger screen for movies, games, web browsing, GPS......I seriously dont think most ppl would go back to a smaller screen.

Motorola confirms that the official name will be "Droid Razr HD" and that it will have 3G global roaming capabilities.

Verizon’s Motorola Droid Razr HD makes and appearance at the Global Certification Forum » Unwired View

Just one step closer to getting that phone released. Hopefully in October. I'm really thinking we might get the full specifications from the September 5th announcement. (heck, I can hope can't I?)

Agree with this dudes $200 comment. This phone will be real nice and all, and will have slightly better build and materials than the SIII, but don't see it commanding the same $250 for a 32gb version anyhow simply due to expected screen size. And probably Phablets or full on tablets with cellular voice are the only future products that could command over $250 other than iPhones with more than 32gb built in. Wonder if Apple will offer a 128gb iPhone 5? They should when you can't do expansion.

There actually is another Razr HD forum that was already created. I'm going to talk to the big guy about moving all of this over.

Would be great if the mods could merge this thread with the Razr HD thread. (since there is no "fighter")

It might as well be the HD. The only difference is the screen. Black, flat, kevlar, S3, 1gb ram, non removable battery, etc.
I hope the RHD is also $150, nice phone, but not cutting edge.

Looks like someone stole one of the leaked vids and re-posted it. So what size screen does this look like to you? 4.3, 4.5 or 4.8? I'm leaning more towards 4.5
I'm sure this link won't last long either lol

Supposed to be 4.6 so after the soft keys show up on the screen, it will be about 4.3 usable. Some apps will make use of it like the movie player to give you a full 4.6 screen, but almost all apps will not make teh keys disapear and you'll have the 4.3".
I've played with the Motoraola Atrix HD with a 4.5" screen and soft keys (on the screen) and it shows less than my Droix X with a 4.3 screen. Open the internet on the Atrix 4.5" and the pages display less text than my Droid X.

There must be something Moto is hiding from us about the Droid Razr HD that will be revealed Sept 5. Their advert, Save the Date, "On Display" is that a hint?

The Razr HD has to have something different from the Atrix HD. The Atrix HD has really been getting great reviews on the "display" from colors to how crisp the display is in general. So will the Razr HD display be even better looking than the Atrix HD? or will it be the same.

I just feel like there has to be something we have not been told that will blow us away at this event, but what is it?

The Razr HD has to have something different from the Atrix HD. The Atrix HD has really been getting great reviews on the "display" from colors to how crisp the display is in general. So will the Razr HD display be even better looking than the Atrix HD? or will it be the same.

I just feel like there has to be something we have not been told that will blow us away at this event, but what is it?
My Magic 8 Ball is telling me that it will either be a third device or something that Moto (Google) has cooked up themselves. They have really been pushing the concept of your phone connecting to everything and being a central part of your life. In the beginning it was all about docks. You have car docks and then desktop docks. Later they had HD docks and then they introduced Webtop. A bit before its time (reminds me of Palm's Folio), but still a really cool idea. They had a dock to go with it and even a laptop dock with a full screen that excited a lot of people. Last year they introduced Moto Active which was a little different, but offered some great features. I have a feeling it will be along those lines and this time I'm hoping for something that will blow everyone away. Something like a tablet shell that you can just drop the phone in.

"Magic 8 Ball"?!

I was hoping that you had some special undead ESP or other powers not available to us mere mortals.

Hey folks. I've been following this thread silently since March....haven't spoken up because I don't have anything to add. Just looking for info. Can you post a link to the other forum please? I haven't been able to find it. Thanks for any response and for all the info over these many months of waiting for the HD.

It is gone now and we only have the one forum.

With most phones there is a pre-release code name that the company uses internally. Many times the real release name isn't known until right before launch. That is why we end up with forums like "Droid Fighter". Even though we often know what the release name will end up being we like to wait it out. In this case there was a separate Razr HD forum created by accident and the Droid Fighter forum was left standing. This has since been corrected and all the content from the Droid Fighter forum has been moved to the Razr HD forum. The Droid Fighter forum is now gone.

According to all the filings we've seen, the Razr HD is using a Snapdragon processor, which is made by Qualcomm. So the mystery Intel-based device is something else.

New article today says Moto's next phone to feature edge to edge screen (no bezel) to be unveiled next week.

Could this be the Razr HD?

Edge to edge screen sounds exciting. But that picture is confusing - the buttons are not part of the screen, different from what we are expecting. So that may not be the HD or maybe just a random photo?

We know it it isn't edge to edge based on all the leaked photos. Could be a new device. That would be nice. I think that is a ransomed phone.

In the Bloomberg article...the pic said its "A Motorola Inc. Motolux smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona."

Thats a different phone all together.

http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/XW-EN/Consumer-Products-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/MOTOLUXE-XW-EN

But....the description for the Motolux calls it an edge to edge display....confusion is starting....right about....now. lol Thats not what I consider an edge to edge display.

This event must be a release of several phones then some being released next month and others like this edge to edge design later in the year.

So the question is should we wait for edge to edge design with possible jelly bean or get Razr HD?

Thanks for clarifying that. Why would they use that photo with this article?

Yes, this does not sound like the Razr HD.

" The phone would be the most high-profile product debut for Motorola Mobility since the company was purchased by Google for about $12.5 billion. The model also would be one of the first full-screen phones in the U.S., meaning it uses the entire front of the device as a display."

OTD has said she heard 3 devices for VZW from Moto for or by October. This must be the 3rd one and it's been kept WAY more secret than the other two.

I don't know, it would be nice, but I have a feeling the third will be a tablet or something like that. I just know that Vzw employees are getting or will get trained on 3 separate Moto devices. We know about the Razr HD and the Razr M already so the third is a mystery.

I hope this turns out to be some form of Razr Maxx HD though. Big battery and HD edge to edge screen would make this an incredible device. Then again, releasing it with Jelly Bean would make it even better.

I just find it hard to believe Moto goes without a phablet challenging device of any sort. Particularly when SIII is now kinda a small phablet rather than the size of a traditional smartphone.

Everything leaked on the RAZR HD just make it seem not so grand compared to something like the SIII or Note II.. Particularly where you have all the nifty Wacom things that are starting to look more and more useful with NoteII better digitizer and software. I thought the digitizer on a smartphone thing seemed like a total gimmick with the Note, but with Note II and the extra capability and uses, it's STARTING to look like something more compelling. Little bit of gimmick left I suppose.
