I am making my first Droid purchase this month, so I am new to monitoring this rumor mill. However: I went to Best Buy to look at a Razr Maxx in person before I buy from Amazon, as I am debating between Maxx now or wait for the Fighter/equivalent. Best Buy in Alexandria, VA (Potomac Yard) had no Maxx phones in stock and zero replacements are being sent out to the store. They had the dummy model on display but its price tag/etc had already been removed.
Is that normal?

Reason: Added store information for verification purposes

Sounds a bit odd and makes me wonder if Best Buy is phasing out the Maxx in anticipation of the Fighter. VZW online still has Maxx in stock though.
The lack of any news on the Fighter makes me think that is more of a refresh of the Maxx than a completely new device (which would generate a lot more heat, leaks and news).
Maybe our Verizon employee ghost88 can provide some info.

To clarify, this Best Buy employee said that he could not special order it. He checked the computer system for me and said that it was no longer available.
He may have simply been wrong, of course, but that's what he said he saw in the system. I'll check another store in the area later, perhaps.
Been following the news with you guys on here, so I thought I should post.
I have a buddy that works at Verizon as a sales Rep. I told him I was looking into getting the Maxx until I heard about this phone. He hasn't heard about any phones being released soon so he checked with his manager who confirmed nothing has been announced to the stores just yet.
I'm betting, since verizon likes to push back launch days, we will hear more information about it on the 12th, but not an actual release day for the stores. Aren't there usually commercials out before the phones are released? Hopefully we hear something soon, I have the Droid 1 and desperately need an upgrade :P

There's an update on another site that shows a June release date. It had some interesting details in the specs section that was more complete than before. I'm too new to publish links yet, but if I could, it would look like this:
pdadb/index.php?m=specs&id=3446&c=motorola_droid_fighter
but would have .net following pdadb. What's interesting for me is that is shows an analog radio receiver. Maybe no one else cares, but it's an important feature for me. I'm a runner and not one phone I have tried can maintain a data connection for a complete run, so the FM simulator apps are worthless.

So I guess the existing Razr line doesn't have FM receivers? I figured all Moto phones circa Droid X and newer, guess not. Good news on one hand, awful news on the other: June?!

I wonder where they got the June release date from?
It is prolly just speculation since nothing has been said about it yet and its almost the 12th. I have yet to see a site besides that one that says a different release date than april 12th.
I have waited with my upgrade for something I could really get excited about. I passed on the nexus and the raz. I really hope this phone will by my huckleberry. While I love my Droid X its def time to enter the multiple processor world for me.

So, according to pdadb.(net)/index.php?m=specs&id=3379&c=motorola_atrix_3_mb886 , the motorola phone that's coming out in April is the Atrix 3, NOT the Fighter. Conveniently, however, it's using the same picture (which is a Droid form-factor), so I doubt that is very accurate.
My bet is that the Fighter is either coming out on April 12th, or it's going to be announced then(or announced that it's been pushed back, as someone already mentioned ). According to the dates on the initial screenshot leak, the phones were all released within 1-3 days of then, so let's hope for this week!

I still stand by what I posted. Verizon employees need to be able to train on the devices so they should know when stuff is coming out and they havent never heard of anything coming out soon. I'm hoping we will hear something by the end of the week.

Verizon didn't get the Atrix or Atrix 2. Why would they get the Atrix 3?
I thought the Atrix was part of AT&T, but I wouldnt trust my answer :P. I just know I haven't heard of any Atrix at verizon.
You're correct, the Atrix is an AT&T phone.

They wouldn't - it's an AT&T Phone, I just thought it was worth mentioning becuase it's the same release area as the Fighter. That's the information that PDAdb.net had, so I just passed it along. I thought it was interesting that the Fighter was rumoured to be released in April, and now, it's not (according to this website) going to be out until June while the Atrix is estimated for April.

Well, I guess we only have to wait until tomorrow to find out if it gets released. Right now, I seriously doubt it. I don't think VZW would release a new Droid flagship phone with zero hype beforehand.

I agree, but if they are going to do that, they need to start releasing a lot of information about the phone right now! Otherwise, people will upgrade now to avoid the fee since there is nothing for people to hold out for.

The GNex from Amazon Wireless is starting to sound slightly better now...
here is a good comparison look at both rumors of Fighter and Galaxy S3, my vote Figher > S3. read a report online of how quad core could be good but at the same time it can be a huge battery killer for phones. and with the Galazy S3 giving such a low battery I would give it <12 hrs battery life. http://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-vs-motorola-droid-fighter-74565/

What good are rumors if you can't count on them to be 100% accurate?
Hope they're not pushing it back to the 22nd to make sure we get hit with the upgrade fee.

I would say the rumors of it being pushed back until June/July would be more accurate. Have to get those 3rd Quarter numbers and the Maxx did JUST come out at the end of January so prolly spacing out the phones a little bit. Very unfortunate cuz I need to get rid of my Droid 1 RIGHT NOW lol. Phone turning off 5x a day, battery dies in 3 hours with minimal use, and switches into spanish mode once a day o.o

Bummer, my company is upgrading at the end of the month and I was hoping to see this get released. Maybe my luck will change by then but atm i'm still torn between the maxx and the nexus as my alternative choices.
I still haven't been able to get any solid information from my Job on this Device. But everyone knows Verizon will push something back if they feel its not up to their standards.
Will keep you guys posted as soon as I get some info on the device.

Rofl... standards. I can only imagine how terrible the software must be if it's not even "verizon quality" yet...
I have a Q for everyone
i have untill the 18th to cancel and wait for it.
i signed up with wirefly and have allready had one bad mic, one bad power button and 3rd is due to arive in the morning (im thinking of not opening it and Rejecting delivery.
will the fact i had service for 14 days and then canceled and then come back 14-30 days later when it comes out. affect me as being considered new customer and get for the lower price?
i just dont want to be hosed with this thing..
(kinda dont like it due to Voice qaulity vs sprint S2 (i still have LMFAO)
and to be honest im not going to pay so much for a upgrade to it to come out weeks after ID FLIP A LID>>

OK - here's my (semi) contribution - my wife got a Maxx this morning - just told me that the TRAINING on the Fighter was yesterday - no idea of the actual release date. . .

Customer. She asked the rep in our corporate store. Rep said training was yesterday. My upgrade isn't until sometime in May, I'll actually wait if the fighter isn't out.
On the other news that Verizon employee "training" just happened...
1) Gosh, I hope that didn't break their bank! They haven't started collecting that 30$ fee yet.

I hope that page is wrong... I'd only consider the phone if it had a 4470 processor + MAXX sized battery, or the new S4. If it's just a rehashed RAZR, then I have no desire to buy a phone with 6-12 month old internals at a premium price today.
Still not sure if phones need 2GB RAM yet though... Seems like overkill, but it's better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
