ok i must have miss read it and thought it was the fighter, sry guys.
It's good to see news stories, nevertheless... hoping for some more news by May 3rd as to what we can expect. If it ends up being RAZR internals with a HD screen, then that's pretty unexciting since the RAZR is getting old pretty quickly. I'm hoping for a S4 in the RAZR, but doubtful that it will happen. The 4470 would be fine though...
I really wanted the nexus experience, but when the Galaxy Nexus was released, it seemed like it was already a little outdated. Especially now, since I can finally get my upgrade, the phone seems to use year old tech. My X is working fine, which is probably due to it being a relatively popular device, with current/new parts at the time of purchase. I don't want to buy an outdated phone and be stuck with it for 2 years... no thanks. Heck, I've seen rezounds go for $250 around here on craigslist, I'd rather just buy that and not renew my contract.
Sitting on an upgrade for my wife and I is killing us. Both our phones, Droid X and Droid Incredible are unreliable and shutting down daily. So badly need to upgrade. I don't want to buy the Nexus or the Droid Razr Maxx with this phone looming. We need some sort of information. 2 yrs is along time to be with a Phone, so when its time to get something new, you want it to be the best available (on your carrier at least).

I thought about that too, but your monthly rate isn't any cheaper by being out of contract. Believe me, I hate all U.S. wireless providers--period. I have had them all and Verizon definitely has been the most trouble free both in network reliability, coverage and Customer Service (I avoid their retail clerks like I avoid car salespersons). For me, since I plan on staying with Verizon, I might as well get a new phone since I have to pay the same monthly service fee. I can always sell a phone or pass it on to a frugal friend or family member.
I didn't intend to get so far off topic. I really want to see the next Motorola offering and hope it's better than the Nexus.

No reason to say, "sorry". You could be right, I was just saying my opinion.
Anyhow, anybody have any theories on the phone that was linked? It doesn't look the same as the leaked Fighter with the Verizon logo. (That's why I don't personally think it's the phone). For starters, the screen looks really small. In fact, on the second picture where it shows three phones all next to each other, it appears like it's a middle size of the three.
I'm wondering if the Fighter and the Razr HD are actually two different phones. I'm not sure that is a direction Motorola needs to be going in if they are both for Verizon though.
Still, please oh please.... Just give me a more than an incremental upgrade. I want a game changer. After the disappointment of the Incredible 4G, I just want to get a dang phone now.

I'm not so sure there is technology out right now where someone can build a true game changer for Verizon. Maybe Samsung's with their screen-tech and custom silicone (Exynos) will surprise us? Outside of that we basically have the snapdragon S4-based phones at best.
I'd love a game changer, but I'm willing to live with a decent mix of current tech. Every new phone seems to have some type of Achilles heel - but never the same one.

Honestly, if the Incredible 4G had a bigger battery, and a 720p screen, it would be pretty must my ideal phone. The S4 processor is THE best processor we can hope for at this time, since it should be efficient on LTE, and as fast as the Tegra3. If it had a 2300mah+ battery, I could probably even overlook the screen issue, since it has a SD slot, which phones increasingly don't have.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I probably would have gone with the Incredible 4G if it had a 4.3" screen.
I'm sitting on my available upgrade at this time. My Droid X is still chugging along pretty well (I've never had 2 years with a phone and not been absolutely dying to upgrade until now).
Guess I'm going to wait out the Fighter/Razr HD and hopefully it'll have what I want and be worth the upgrade.

since the leaked phone seems to be the chinese variant, I think it'd be a reasonable guess to say it's a cousin to the fighter but not the actual thing.
IIRC, the exif data listed "droid razr hd" rather than just "razr hd," and "Droid" is a Verizon trade name, no? To me that says whatever device was used for those shots was probably not the same one from that recent link.

You're right. I think I misused the term, "game changer". Basically, I meant something that is not just a minor upgrade from previous models.
I'd like to see: something larger than 4.3", a 720p non pentile display, a different processor than the 4430 (S4, OMAP 4470, etc.), better optics inside than just upping megapixels, continuing with their trend of fitting ridiculous mah in those slim phones, keeping the SD slot, etc.
It seems to be a trend right now where phones are being released, but they are missing something or are straying from key benefits of Android. If they can offer stuff that HTC and Samsung aren't, it would work wonders for them.

Yes, yes, yes. You're on the same wavelength as I am.
Yes, plese give us something more than conjecture or "sources say". I'd like to see maybe a pre-production unit in the hands of someone who will write a review of sorts. That way we can get a pretty good idea of the specs. Not that the specs couldn't change between pre-production and actual production but I'm sure the changes would be minimal and/or very minor.
C'mon Verizon/Motorola, toss us a bone!!!!

We still have no information on the fighter. The Razr is $149 with 50 back by rebate At the moment. But I think that's because of Mothers Day being right around the corner.
We are running a Crazy promo on Razr for new Acts thou. $50 after the rebate.
The Following User Says Thank You to ghost88 For This Useful Post:
Damn $50 for that phone? if only it had the maxx battery :P
is it just an in store deal? don't see it online. If the Maxx had a killer drop like that I'd prolly just jump on that and not wait for the fighter. esp since we haven't heard a peep more about it, just rumors.

I'm thinking/hoping we'll get some info next week. I certainly hope so - just did ANOTHER battery pull on the X. In any case, if it's an incremental upgrade I'll just take advantage of the inevitable price drop on the Maxx - but I'm hoping for something terrific from the Fighter/RAZR HD.

Well, here's a couple links the say pretty much the same thing, but at least it's something.
At least its some type of news. If the fighter/rzr hd is just a minor upgrade I too will prolly just go with the maxx with the price drop it will have.
I just don't get how carrying around almost a 6" device in your pocket is good (yes bring on the jokes lol).
Good news (from these links) that there are more rumors that the Galaxy SIII may be coming to Verizon. The bad news is the phone seems less exciting than we thought with info we're learning over the last few days. (I don't want to derail this thread into SIII rumors though...)
Hopefully this Fighter/Razr HD/Blade/??? will be less disappointing.
I'm in the same boat.
Using DroidX.
Thinking about upgrading to Razr Maxx, but the thought of essentially a Maxx with 720p screen and much stronger SoC is too tantalizing.
I don't want to be sitting around waiting 6 more months for it though...
Hopefully we'l get more info next week before Samsung's May 3rd press junket.

Yes, I agree, 6 months would be to long.
I'm thinking Verizon may be holding off now until the CTIA which is in early May. Around the 7th I think. They might be thinking the announcement of these two highly anticipated phones might make a bigger "splash" if they do it at the show. Maybe????... Well, the good news is if that's the case we don't have to long to wait. After all, we've waited this long right?
I'm looking more towards the Maxx HD/Fighter rather than the SGIII. I've had SamSung phones in the past and haven't had any problems with them, but I have a Droid X now and it's without a doubt the best phone I've had. (Dirk knocks on wood here)
The savings to be had by getting a MAXX, which I'm guessing to be a couple hundred bucks wouldn't stop me from going with the HD/Fighter. When I average it out over the 2 year contract it comes to about 27 cents a day.
Great find. Might not be the OMAP 4470 initially expected, but the S4 seems to be a suitable replacement... a great "base-level" next-gen SoC. With the MAXX battery, we could get crazy battery life as well...
Verizon, at least in Maine, is currently running a buy one, get one free promo. It certainly makes the Maxx look a lot cheaper if you're like me with two droidX units that need updating...
Well my wifes Droid Incredible is dead. She couldn't be without a phone, so I upgraded her to the Droid Razr Maxx. Online Upgrade price was 299.00, went instore and actually was shocked to find out that it was 199.00. Nearly upgraded my Droid X for the same. BUT.... I will continue to hold out for the Razr HD.

Was it $199, or did you have a $100 discount on your account? I have had a discount "coupon" on my account for a 4g upgrade for a few months. A price drop on the phone may indicate that something new is on the herizon. They did this with the Rezound and the Incredible 2 to reduce inventory before they bring out the new phone. I think the MAXX has only been around for a couple of months, so I have been struggling with the fact that they would release another new RAZR version so soon. My gut is that the fighter will not be released until later this year, but hopefully I am wrong.
I have the same card that came through the mail. $30 for contract renewal and an extra $100 off any 4G/LTE phone.
Hopefully the HD will come soon before the offer expires in June.

I did not have any credit on my account. It was a basic "eligible for upgrade" status. I tried to do the upgrade for my wife online and even chatted with Verizon customer rep while doing the upgrade online, Price was 299.00. Since my wifes phone was dead and the shipping was going to be a few days, I decided i couldn't wait that long. So I attempted to call my local store. I called, they had 5 in stock. Guy held the Maxx for me. I went the next day. Did the upgrade, to my surprise.. 199.00. I didn't question why the price was different online. Didn't want to take a chance of him saying "OH, THAT IS THE WRONG PRICE, GIVE ME 299.00" I did check the receipt and everything read properly, Droid Razr Maxx = 199.00 + 30 dollar upgrade fee -31 dollar Droid Inc. trade in. (GLAD HE DIDN'T CHECK TO SEE IF IT WORKED)
Typical Verizon snail mail. Had the Razar Maxx as the featured phone. The deal promotes 4G/LTE. A extra $100 off any 4G/LTE phone. On top of any renewal discount you may have.
The mailing has a pix of a Razar Maxx running ICS. I called Verizon to point this out and they confirmed the pic but said nothing to when ICS would be released. Took it to a store and they also confirmed the pix of a Maxx running ICS. Also just as clueless as to the update.

It sure sounds like they gave you the $100 off for buying a 4G/LTE phone.

No news today it seems. The latest rumor is a September launch I guess based on somebody who supposedly may know something's tweet or some BS. Personally, I doubt there is much validity in that.
The new GS3 looks nice. Doesn't give me an, "Oh, I gotta have it" feeling like a good HTC device would. I'm still holding out hope for Moto to come in with something great, but their time is limited. If they aren't pumping this out soon, fall is when we'll supposedly see the next round of processor/spec bumps occurring. I hope it's not a case of too little/ too late.

I too have not come across this. is there a way you can upload a pic of it? I think If I came across this, and the fighter/rzr hd doesnt come out till after summer, I'd prolly jump on the maxx just because this Droid1 is driving me CRAZY.
With the new Samsung S3 out, and ready to buy very soon. Since Verizon will be carrying the S3, i doubt they are going to release the "fighter" to compete with the S3. Not until the sales and hype have drop from the S3. Like people have said before in the post, probably looking at August/September release date.
I was waiting on the "fighter" but I'm going to get the S3. [Its time for a update from my rooted Droid X]

Verizon released the Nexus, RAZR, and Rezound all within what? 2 weeks or so? One high-end release does not preclude another...especially if one if one is Droid-branded and the other (or others) is not.
I'm going to actually have to see this S3, but online it doesn't look appealing, I think i'd prefer the GNex over that phone. I'm still holding out for the Moto's next offering or even that rumored Sony phone. Unlike Thirdeye00, I'm still fine with my DX for awhile longer.
"The phone is also armed with a battery claimed to last longer than other devices"
S3 is 2200mAh
Iphone 4S 1420mAh
Droid Maxx 3300mAh
Although the "fighter/Maxx HD" might have better battery life then S3. But Samsung claims that the S3 will get the best used of the battery.
Dont get me wrong, i like my rooted droid X, with overclocking it benchmarks high. But im get back spots on the screen and its slowing getting bigger.
My Droid X has 2 Black Spots about the size of Dimes on the bottom left and right side of the Screen. Im "LIVING" with it until i decide on S3 or Droid Razr HD. Which i think right now i prefer the Razr HD due to the battery size. Yes the S3 has some cool features but really, how many IPHONE users still use Siri? It was a fad. The one thing i liked about the S3 was the phone staying on while you looked at it. That was kinda neat
The release date becomes uncertain. If the date is in Sep 2012, it is fine with me but need some confirmation from sources. Otherwise, waiting for nothing and makes disappointed. To be frank, SGS3 could not make us really exciting (at least, very negative on the design and frame material) so hopefully, Motorola could come up with practical things with SGS3's inside Hardware + USB3 + 3300 capacity Battery. For us the buying points are the radio, sensors, casing and toughness (waterproof, scratch less screen etc.) but don't mind about the high density camera and music media player.
The Motorola DROID RAZR HD comes with one of the thinnest profiles among Android devices, just like its predecessor. The upgraded RAZR features the same size, but Moto has managed to increase the display size to 4.7 inches by extending the screen f... Read More
