Verizon Wireless and Motorola Add Three New and Exclusive 4G LTE DROID RAZR™ Smartphones
All the power, battery life and cool design of DROID RAZR™ with the speed of 4G LTE three times over
Sept. 05, 2012
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., and LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – Verizon Wireless and Motorola Mobility today announced that they are adding three new and exclusive smartphones, DROID RAZR™ M, DROID RAZR™ HD and DROID RAZR™ MAXX™ HD, to the DROID RAZR™ by Motorola family on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
All three devices offer the power and reliability that customers have come to expect from Motorola and Verizon Wireless. DROID devices give customers speed, power and revolutionary technology, while the RAZR design delivers a thin, compact device built with strong, top-of-the-line materials and long-lasting battery life. The new smartphones are powered by the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, giving customers the capability to simultaneously talk and browse the Web and also access the blazingly fast speeds that cover more than 75 percent of the U.S. population. With three brand new options, this lineup has something for everyone.
DROID RAZR M: The Full-Screen Phone
DROID RAZR M is an unbelievably compact smartphone that puts the world in the palm of your hand with an edge-to-edge 4.3-inch Super AMOLED™ Advanced display. Customers will be amazed with the DROID RAZR M's design, which is significantly shorter and narrower than the original DROID RAZR, yet includes the same size display, making it the most compact 4.3-inch 4G LTE smartphone.
DROID RAZR M also features powerful Web browsing capabilities by combining Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network with the speeds of Chrome™ for Android™ mobile browser for an unrivaled mobile Web experience.
The DROID RAZR M's SMARTACTIONS™ feature maximizes battery efficiency with every charge, allowing customers to browse the Web and watch videos without worrying about draining their device's battery.
DROID RAZR HD: Performance and Power
Building on the DROID RAZR legacy, the new DROID RAZR HD expands the innovation with a new 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display that allows movies, photos, magazines and even websites to appear with vivid clarity. DROID RAZR HD provides customers with 78 percent more pixels for a more vibrant display and features 40 percent greater battery capacity than the original DROID RAZR.
The viewdini app is at its best with the HD display and 4G LTE speeds to watch movies, television shows and other video content. Viewdini brings the power of Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network to the screen by streamlining access to videos from a wide range of content providers, including cable operators, websites and other popular video sources. The viewdini app can be downloaded from Google Play.

Packed with the same leading features as DROID RAZR HD, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD raises the industry standard for battery life with 32 hours of normal use. EDIT: June 8: Photos and processor news. See Post No. 2
as of June 1, 2012...
As is typical, we still have nothing concrete confirmed from VZW or Moto. We are still operating on speculation and rumor. Based on available information and leaks, Post #2 will be updated with the latest info. Feel free to browse the thread, which may stray off-topic and include our collective rants, speculations, wild guesses and wish lists. Be warned - It rambles. If you have any good leads that you would like mentioned, feel free to PM me and I will place them in Post #2, and update as necessary.
All we have so far is a rumored release date of April 12.
No specs so far, although mention has been made of:
4.6-inch HD display
1.8 GHz OMAP4470 dual core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 1GB of RAM (but see Post #2)
3300 mAh battery. Based on July FCC submission, the battery may be a 2530mAh NON-replaceable.
Device(s): VZW: Droid X, SGSIII,
via hotspot: Nexus 7
Carrier: Not Provided

I hope it will have NFC. I am also on DX and I don't see any advantage to the MAXX just because of battery life. Should have had ICS at launch. I guess it takes a while to fine tune the VZW bloatware. Would go Nexus but build quality and battery life are negatives.

I'm in the same boat as you. I almost got the Razr Maxx but changed my mind at the last second of the lack of ICS.

I agree. The Sammy and HTC radios are weak compared to Moto radios. As much as I hate Moto's lack of support, their hardware is superior, so I want to see what this brings to the table before upgrading my X.
Here's another link with some info about the Fighter. He also writes about some of the other soon to be released phones but he seams pretty excited about the fighter at this time.
Just an observation but it appears that since Google bought Motorola Mobility we should see no more motoblur on their phones. Just straight ICS 4.0. Love it!!!

I can't quote a source, but I had read that Motorola will be releasing unlocked versions of their phones. Like the non-carrier-specific Nexus line of phones they will cost the full retail price since they won't be subsidized. That's the price of a subsidized phone--bloatware! I would not mind paying full price for a phone if I could get a lower bill too. You used to be able to get a lower monthly rate if you had your own unlocked phone, but now there is no way around it. You are always paying the contracted rate. So I just get the subsidized phone and thanks to Android, root and do whatever with it. Some people get new phones on contract renewal and then turn around and sell them on CL.
Nope, sorry, no source. Just and observation I was making. With Google now owning Motorola Mobility, I would think they could just say to Motorola, that they would like it if no overlays were installed over the Android operating system. But I could be wrong, just that I'm hoping not. I think we'll still see the bloatware from the carriers though.
So riddle me this... If the Fighter is getting ICS in April, why do the current Droids have to wait until Q3? One possibility is the fighter gets vanilla ICS, and the rest wait for blurred ICS. Probably just wishful thinking, but it's odd Moto would take that long to release ICS to the current phones if they already have it running on the fighter now if it's really being released in less than a month.
Regardless, the Fighter has moved to the top of my DX replacement list.

I would guess that new phones would comeout with ICS because they are new phones and why would Google/Motorola make double work for themselves. i.e. release the phone with GB now and upgrade to ICS later. Easier to just release with ICS. Now the older Droids will get ICS on a "when we get time" schedule. i.e. Those phones are already out and working with whatever OS they have, and they'll get the upgraded OS if and when we get time.
Just my best guestimate though. I have no inside information.
Right noe the Droid Fighter is the only phone that could potentially get me to give up my beloved "X".

I wish, this new Motorola Droid Fighter would come with more sensors (ACCELEROMETER, MAGNETOMETER, PROXIMITY SENSOR, AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR, GYROSCOPE, BAROMETER, THERMOMETER, UV SENSOR), dual SIMs capabilities (GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WCDMA), and IP68 dust-waterproof.

It MIGHT!
Right now we have no idea regarding the Fighters specs. So for all we know, it may come with many of the sensors your asking about.

I was due for a new phone in February. Holding out despite $30 bionics at tiger direct.
And you know Verizon is going to want $400 plus a new contract for the fighter. (Stupid name isn't it, good name for an iPhone or windows phone though). We don't buy phones for their names though.

What was the last phone they charged $400 for with a new contract?

Welcome to the forums!
Why a uv sensor?
(looks around...)
First staff here? Woo hoo! Howdy, Fighters!
OMAP 4470 you say? Very interesting...

Stopped by the Verizon store this evening to check out some new phones since my original Droid X is ready to be replaced. I've had my eyes on the Droid Razr Maxx for awhile, but now that this Droid Fighter is supposedly coming out soon, I've decided to hold out. I asked the sales person that helped me if they knew anything about the Fighter and if its being released on the 12th like everyone is saying, and both the manager and sales person I spoke with had never even heard about the Fighter. They said that they are usually in the dark about this kind of stuff, but I do agree that with less than 2 weeks till the 12th, you'd think we would have at least seen some sort of leaked advertisement for the phone's release. I'm probably gonna hold out for another week or so, and if there is no official release date given, I might have to pull the trigger on the Maxx.

You should have tested them and asked if they've heard of the Droid Incredible 4G. I figure if they have record of that with the 4/26 date, then we def. know the Fighter isn't happening on the 12th. Hmmmm.
I think April 12th (or somewhere close) might be correct.
These days were all either correct or close to being correct if I remember correctly. Hopefully we get some more info soon. My Dinc is on it's last leg.
Finally some news about a new phone.. I almost picked up the Nexus but wanted to wait for the bugs to get worked out and see what would be coming out this year. So far this one is looking good. Really liking that their now going with the larger battery...
Will be keeping up on this thread for more updates..
I work at Verizon and we just had our Corporate staff meeting yesterday ,(Their on the 1st Sunday of the Month.) and nothing was said or even mentioned about the Droid Incredible 4G and Droid Fighter.
The Incredible 4G is on the news page of our eRos workstation but thats it. No official release date or other information has been leaked. I will update this when we get information on either handset at our stores.

If it doesn't get you in trouble, can you let us know if it is even in the VZW system, whether a workshop, release date or pricing matrix?

Just an obsevation, but if the workshop for the "Fighter" is on 4/12, how can they start selling it the same day? Seems to me the workshop for a phone would be at least a week before the release date.

All of those devices except for the bottom two have already been out for a while now.

And the release dates for the ones that are out are very close to what is on that list... amazingly. It seems like Verizon phones always get pushed back, but lately they've been hitting the mark.
I ain't buying it. That pic is of a regular Razr or Maxx. Those specs are the exact same of the rumored specs that have bene floating around and without any type of source.

Then again, that's probably what we'll get. LOL
THANKS! I don't remember anything about the source!!
Having said that - I don't remember this:
1.8 GHz OMAP4470
But - then again - at my age - I should be frequenting the Jitterbug forum. LOL
IIRC the 1.8 rumor wasn't in the original post when that picture linked. It was somebody in that thread's guess (on the chinese forum) and it sorta took on a life of it's own from there.
Not saying the OMAP 4470 @1.8 is not possible, just I'm hopeful for an S4 and I don't think there is any real info to back up the claims of that particular OMAP. They sure love their TI Processors though.
I hate the stress of picking a new phone. I thought I'd narrowed it down to between two, but if both the INC 4G and the Fighter aren't appealing.... maybe I'll jump ship to Sprint. Of course, I'd probably quickly regret that.

Yes, please let us know something!
Pretty please!
I am very excited about the Dinc4G!

I still haven't heard or seen anything related to this phone in our trainnings.
I will just have to keep checking or wait till monday or tuesday to see if we get a package from FedEx with a dummy display and some materials for the phone.

PS. is the Cayman considerd to be LG Lucid?
Yes, I am pretty sure that's what the cayman came out to be the lucid...
Cool. Looking forward to next week and the inevitable reviews.
This situation regarding the Fighter is odd. Only 5 days til rumored release and nothing. If it's truely to be released on the 12th, there have to be phones in the distibution system. Someone somewhere has to have opened a box and looked at the phone and read the specs in the paperwork.
Not saying a can't happen but to me it's not looking to promising. Which is a bummer because I'm looking forward to this phone.
