It can take 10+ mins, it usually doesn't, usually under a minute for the actual flash and less that 5 minutes to boot up (and that's assuming it wipes the davlik cache. And do you think he took a stop watch out and timed it? I'm taking 7 minutes as an estimate, and 10+ minutes is close enough.

I dont really think this person really got the update. If they did where are those screenshots? It take less then 5 mins to take them and upload it. Plus if you see they are new if any thing they got the .173
It is highly doubtful there will be an update today or even this week. The main soak test hasn't even started yet. Until the soak starts an bugs are identified there will not be anything pushed to anyone.
I concur.
Also, with the new Droid Flighter scheduled to be released on 04/12 (of somewhere close to there), I would be highly surprised if VZW updated the RAZR and RAZR MAXX to ICS before then. They don't want to take away from the thunder of the Flighter, which will use ICS as one of its primary selling features.

Thats what the leak was about and when people went to try flashing it with just the files they bricked their phone.
Incorrect.
The soak test has not started yet, so it couldn't have come from there. And if it did, it wouldn't be considered a "leak" since it the update for the soak test will be officially released by Motorola.
The leak was actually pulled directly from Motorola's servers via Cheesecake (which is well documented in various forums). It may or may not have been a final version (hence some of the problems some users had...although most people who know what they're doing haven't had any issues with installing it).

Was trying to upload a screenshot showing my update check was working. The image URL was on my drop box account, I guess that's the image from the splash screen on drop box
I am positive that you will be prompted when the update goes live. You don't have to check all the time to see. Last update, I got a message for an update before I read anywhere that it was even rolling out.
Youse guys should quit being so impatient......................

I believe we are all the victims of a cruel April Fools joke.
That is what I said, but folks are saying a soak test is real. Question is who are the folks that started this and was ICS the confirmed thing to be tested? Must think though the timing of the info was around April Fools.
There IS a leak out though....
Added: I hope my joking does not turn to reality.

You will get prompted eventually. But it's not always at the outset. After I received my MAXX a few weeks ago, I never received a prompt to download and install the 2.3.6 update. A few days after activating it, I went to "System updates" out of curiosity (not knowing there was a 2.3.6 update), and it said I had an update to download and install. Everyone is being impatient, but after an update is released, checking for it manually will often allow you to get it several days sooner than if you just wait for a prompt.
Thing is.... Not too many who were part of the soak test even got in on the first round because moto pulled it since everyone was cheesecaking their way in. So who knows where it even stands? Everything at this point is PURE SPECULATION. And people are getting all antsy as heck. Until we hear from a reputable source that either the soak test has started or that the update has gone live, there is no sense checking every 5 minutes for an update. It's silly.
Especially when there will be bugs. I've been through this enough times to know that It will be awesome, but there are reasons it's not released yet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to ICS too... But it sure seems like a LOT of people are talking the word of a leaked (i.e. Who knows if it's true) screenshot from BB as PROOF that ICS is supposed to be here today.
No official word from VZW means that people are getting overly excited for something that's not likely to happen today.
... someone had to say it...

Agreed. That's why I said manually checking "after an update is released" will generally let you get it quicker than waiting for a prompt. But of course, it has to be released first for that to work. Constantly checking now is pretty darn silly.

True. But you could have waited a little longer to do it. The day is not over yet. I will sit here in this pumpkin patch until he arrives, Charlie Brown.

I would guess since this will be a large update that doing a reset will be the best course of action. But I do not know the official stance, seeing as nothing official has been said that we are even getting an update....
Unless you made any Root related system mods (flashed ROMs, Recoveries, Hot Spot hack) You should be fine with NOT resetting your phone.

I must say, I've been on it since Sunday morning and I have yet to report any bugs. I have had one random reboot probably 20 minutes after installing.
Also I was stock from the day before, downloaded about 11 apps. Used OTA Root Keeper, temp unroot, install, restore root and it worked.

Thank you for your insight... I hope it is bug free, then it will roll out to the masses sooner, and without many issues!
I have an old backup I'm going to restore, then do the root keeper, unroot, restore root after as well. Seems like most are having the best luck with that route at this point.

I just got off the phone with verizon tech support and they say the update we are expecting Is nothing more than a basic systems update. The guy told me ICS It's still a month or longer out.
True. But you could have waited a little longer to do it. The day is not over yet. I will sit here in this pumpkin patch until he arrives, Charlie Brown.
Nothing wrong with that. I even flashed back to stock so I could be ready for it if it did arrive today!
I'm just seeing a few upset people (no one specific) who seem to think that a leaked document and a cheesecake leak mean that ICS is supposed to be here today and are rallying the pitchforks and torches and are ready for Armageddon should the update NOT arrive today.

Too bad my internet regularly pulls 58-63 mb/s download and 30ish mb/s upload. So take this into account...
I am a new member and it is telling me I can't post URLs or pictures until a certain amount of post. Any ideas as to how to get the pictures to you guys?
If you're not running the stock ROM you won't get the notification.
If you've deleted any bloatware or Verizon apps, then you'll probably get the notification, but it will fail to install.
If ALL you've done is rooted, then it MAY work, it depends on what Verizon/Moto chose to look at during the installation.
Personally, I've taken my back to non-rooted stock so that I'm sure it will install correctly.
I used Voodoo and temp un-rooted and then did a factory reset. So now I am sitting on stock .173, unrooted and have all of Verizon's bloatware intact (but hidden in the stock app drawer). I have a lot to reinstall after the reset, but I am going to wait until Moto and V send me my sammich. Although not gonna worry about it until I see others getting the OTA.
