I've been searching forums and Google, but I haven't found any explanation for this one. As many people have posted that the Wifi is not connecting to their router or repeater, I'm having the same problem, but this one is a little different than others I'm seeing. It seemed to happen after the 181 update.
Not only would my MAXX not connect to my router with WPA2, but it would disable my router while it was trying to connect to it and all of my other computers and devices would disconnect from it.
Here's the kicker... I went into the advance settings, changed the phone to static IP and assigned it an IP address. The phone immediately connected and the modem was re-enabled allowing the other devices to work again.

Have you tried rebooting your modem and wifi router? Unplug them both. wait a minute or two and then plug back in. iPhones use to do that too.

Looking at forums elsewhere, I tried something that someone else did. I changed my wireless router from B+G+N to B+G and it works now. I have no idea what that means, but I'm not giving up my N router for my phone. I'll just skip using wifi until ICS comes out and maybe that will fix it.
Just edited this post. Spoke too soon. I still had to set a static IP for it to work, but at least now it's not disconnecting like it was on B+G+N.

the router may be set to wireless N 5.8 ghz ( most laptops and wifi devices can use this high frequency) and i think most cell phones only do 2.4ghz wireless N

Many routers will not connect two different types of signal concurrently. If you have a BGN router and a BorG device and an N device all you would get is the slower B or G. This is probably true with different flavors of N also. When I bought my last Cisco router I made sure it would in fact, handle multiple protocols concurrently. Check your router specs.

Thanks. Based on what you said, I created another SSID in my router and connected just the phone to it. I changed the phone back to DHCP and it connected right up with no problems. I guess it was conflicting with other devices on the other SSID.
Still, I don't think I should have to go through all of that. I still blame the phone for needing special provisions to connect it. Every other device and my old phone never had that problem, and for that matter I don't remember my RAZR having that problem until the 181 update. Like I said before, I'm hoping ICS will solve some of these, but at least I have a workable solution for now.
I was also having Wifi issues with a B-G-N router. My wife also has an N device (her laptop). If I set up the phone with a WPS setup (Where you go to the router and connect to the phone with a handshake like bluetooth), it is working well. Not sure if this is a permanent fix, but it has resolved my issue for now.. My laptop and other devices connect using G...
