Resuming an app when waking phone - RAZR MAXX

Whenever I wake my phone, it goes back to the home screen instead of reopening where I was. This was never an issue on my HTC Thunderbolt - it is only doing it since switching to the RAZR MAXX and ICS. Is there a way to change that setting? I have looked and looked and cannot find anything to change it. Thanks!

If you lock your phone in an app it will re open in the same spot. Make sure you're not hitting any button on the bottom.
