Girlfriend just got the RAZR and has some questions
Verizon Wireless didn't give her an SD Card with the phone so she is unable to use apps like Zedge that save wallpapers/ringtones to the SD Card. Is there any way to change it so that she can save these things to her internal memory rather than the SD Card?
Also, her phone seems to be charging very slowly. After 3 hours she is sitting at 70%. Is this slow charging normal or is there something wrong with her battery?
The phones do not come with a memory card, just the internal memory. I was using Zedge with no problems on my internal memory. I have since purchased and installed an external card but I'm no sure why she can't use the phone with any program as-is. That said, memory cards are pretty cheap these days. I would pick up a small, really cheap one (maybe 8 gb) just to test it out to make sure the phone is working.
As for the charging, it's a large battery and may take a long time to charge. Is she using the correct cable that came with the phone? I was told that using a different cable would cause the phone to charge very slowly. Also, I only use the wall socket adapter to charge and I always do it over night so I'm not sure how long it takes to get to full charge. Make sure she charges is using the provided cable and using the wall socket overnight and see if it gets to 100%. Sometimes it can take a couple charges to get the battery really cooking again. But if she charges it overnight with the wall socket adapter using the provided cable and it doesn't reach 100% I would return it for another phone.

Or find out if something is running in the background draining the battery slightly less than it's charging. For example... If charging is say 100% and an app is using 75% battery/processing , then have to understand that it's really only charging at a 25% rate.

Every phone I have bought from Verizon, except my husband's ancient BB Curve, came with SD cards. My Moto Q had a mini 4 GB, my OG Droid has a 16 GB micro, daughters Droid 2 has an 8 GB micro, other daughters Stratosphere has 4 GB micro (just bought her a 16 GB...) and my RAZR Maxx came with 16 GB micro.....
My Q was bought at a now defunct retailer, OG Droid at BJ's, RAZR Maxx at Verizon corporate store, Stratosphere at Radio Shack, and Droid 2 at Best Buy....

Not all phones.comes with SD cards, and lately phones have been using internal storage instead. Cheaper for the company I'm sure. Has nothing to do with VZW.
Bought this phone for my wife a couple months ago and it came with a 16 gig SD card...Every smartphone I've bought from Verizon has included some type of SD card. I'd call Verizon and shame them into sending you one, could of just been an over site.

Yeah good luck with that, because- you know- Verizon manufacturers the phones and they decide what to include or not. Better off calling Moto, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

If you buy it at the store... they do decide what accessories to include... and every time I've bought a phone there, they take an SD card off the shelf and put it into the phone.

if that were true, then that would be something YOU got- not everybody. likely they were putting a package together that you were charged for during the sale, or you bought at an indirect store that puts the card in as a bonus. I know that (some?) Costco stores will include an accessory deal like a case, car charger, and maybe a SD card, as part of the sale.
as a 15+ year customer I can assure you this is NOT standard practice for vzw corp stores.
Not to go off topic anymore, but I assure you I didn't pay extra for SD cards. If I did, I would have gotten one for the BB (wasn't included) and I would have gotten a bigger one with Stratosphere.
Sdrawk said the rep pulled a card off the shelf. Not the same as pre-installed.
Definitely have never paid extra for the card.. as I already have a stack of them. They do it without asking.... and as you can see in the article I posted... they WERE including a 16Gb card with the razr. But when they dropped the price, they dropped the SD card.
Including an SD card is pretty much standard practice with most smart phones... at least if bought around the time they are released. (Numerous links/articles/reviews of smart phones can confirm that). Some are included in the actual phone package... others are just thrown in by Verizon.
Hey everyone, thanks for all the advice. We called Verizon and asked them if we were supposed to get one and they told us that they stopped doing that for the RAZR. Who knows if it is a corporate thing or just this store (the store we got it from has a reputation for being unknowledgeable when it comes to...just about everything regarding Android phones). Doesn't matter too much though as wallpapers and such are saving to the internal memory now instead! Not sure what caused the change but it all seemed to work out.
