Default How do you capture a screenshot?

The manual says to hold the power and volume down at the same time, but it won't work for me. I've done this before but it's been awhile and I don't remember how I did it. I thought it was the home key and one of the volume buttons, but I can't get that to work either. I tried searching this but couldn't find an answer for this phone. Thanks for your help.

It is power and volume down at the same time. When you do it, an animation shows of the screen shot reducing into the background until it is framed about 2/3 of the screen and there is a shutter sound.

Thanks Doogald. For some reason I cannot get this to work using the power and down volume buttons. One thing to note is I do have an Ultra, not the Maxx. Wouldn't you think they would be the same. I know the Maxx has some extra features, but for basic commands like this I would think they'd be the same.

Thread moved to forum dedicated to discussing the Ultra.

From the Motorola website for the Ultra ...

How do I take a screen shot of my phone's screen?
Sometimes a picture speaks louder than words. Share a screen capture of your favorite playlist, or your new high score. Forward a screen capture of a friend’s contact information. If you can see it on your smartphone, you can share it with your friends.
To capture your phone’s screen, press and hold both the Power and Volume down key for three seconds, or until you hear the camera shutter click.
To see the screen image, touch Apps > Gallery > Screenshots
Touch and hold the image for files and sharing options, which will be at the bottom of the screen.

Guys, I got it to work just as you said. For some reason it wouldn't work when on my home screen, so I tried doing a screen shot from a different view and it worked fine. I did some screen shots from other areas and it worked fine. It seems to be working perfectly now. Don't know what happened before because I'm doing the same thing. Anyways, thanks for helping me out.

I think phones are like laptops. You just need to reboot them once in a while. I typically put my laptop on standby, but after a week or so it will start to do funny things so I'll shut it down and it will be fine after that.

Well ... not really ...

The basic approach is ...

After you do a major system upgrade like going from Jelly Bean to Kit KAt it is highly recommended that you do a Factory Data Reset. The probability is that it will turn weird in the future if you don't. Did you do a Factory Data Reset after going to Kit Kat?

You should periodically clear the data cache partition. It is used for temporary data and can get corrupted over time. This can result in leggy response times.

You can run in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them) and if the problem stops it was caused by an app that you added.
