Those that are posting pictures of their car should remember to block out their license plates! That is not information you should be giving out to the world.
don't you give this out to everyone who rides behind you in traffic?
I really don't understand the argument for and against the X's camera.
It's a great way to snap photos on the go, but just like every OTHER camera based phone that has come and gone since the first tech was introduced, by no means should anyone be replacing an actual digital camera with the Droid X's camera feature...
With that said, I'm loving all the different photos posted in here, especially the panoramic ones

This. Nobody is suggesting you replace your DSLR or even your point-and-shoot with the Droid X. However, it's nice to know that you can get some respectable photos on-the-go when you leave your camera at home. If the Droid X makes you feel okay with walking out of the house more and more often without your real camera, good for you. Otherwise, if you're like me, bring all your electronics and prove to the world that no one can contain your obsession with tech.
Basically, if we use your argument JubbaTheHutt, the MP3 player should have never replaced the CD player? Do we all really want to carry around a CD Player, Camera, Cell Phone, Notebook Computer, Radio Tuner, and Newspaper?
he's not saying you shouldn't adapt to new technology. He's just saying that the technology to replace a standard camera with a camera phone just isn't there yet. MP3 players where better than cd players and thats why they replaced them.

Yeah and if you understand English, he is saying You Should Not Replace and Actual Digital Camera with The Droid X's Camera. They are arguing that it is acceptable to not be a reliable alternative to having a separate camera. If you are giving me an 8 MP camera, it should be a reliable alternative to being forced to a carry around a camera. The MP3 isn't CD quality, but the loss in quality is hardly noticeable. The difference in quality of a real 8MP camera vs the Droid X's is terrible in some circumstances.
Megapixels dont mean quality. and to address your rudeness, I know exactly what he is saying. You shouldn't replace your regular camera with a camera phone because the technology isn't there yet! Are you seriously pissed that you paid 199 bucks for something the does apps, email, messaging, web browsing, and phone calls and it doesn't take pictures as well as something you would spend well over 200 bucks for?
Just thought I'd chime in and say, that photography is ALL about light, saying we are taking pics in optimal lighting is exactly what we all should be doing if we want the best from these cell phone cameras.
Truth be told the Droid X just like every other cameraphone has a tiny sensor, it will only collect so much light at a given shutter speed and ISO setting. In addition, when you cram a large amount of MP onto a sensor this small, you will be more prone to noise, no way around it. Now a manufacturer can combat this with heavy in-camera noise reduction which results in a loss of detail in your images and some people like myself think a loss of fine detail is worse than a noisy picture. You can remove noise just by downloading Noiseware Community edition which is free and cleans up cameraphone pics nicely but you can't get details back once its gone. The X takes good, not great pictures and if you spend a little time post processing them, they will look great on your Facebook page or any other web usage. If you want to capture moments for a lifetime, get yourself a DLSR, a flash, and some nice lenses, you won't regret it. I take either my Canon 50D or 1D III every where I go........

Sure, but they already know where you are. You can get a lot of information from a license plate....address, phone numbers, etc. It's a great way to get jacked....especially if they know you have a sexy Droid X laying around and a nice ride.
It's standard practice on car forums to block out your license plate, mods should enforce that here for the protection of Phandroid's members!

Great feedback! I shoot with a D300. Noiseware is free and works great!!!
Carmen: On a similar note, you need to stop holding those pictures hostage! From a technical standpoint, I need to see them. The majority of these photos are of landscapes, when a true test of a camera can only be seen with the soothing blue hue of a swimming pool full of girls constrained only by the most minimalistic materials that make up a bathing suit.
I could go into further detail about the reasons that you should be proud of the pictures from your Droid X phone, but I only have to look as far as the Freedom Fries you enjoyed for dinner that night to know that you're a firm believer in what's right.
oh you so funnny :P
Lol i actually think guys from the forums are finding me on facebook because i have quite a few random facebook request from guys idk lol
No offense but based on this picture, I would die if i lived in a town with such a small population.
you would think, but Its really great living in a small town. Especially if you live really close to a large city. Its nice to not have to fight a thousand people every time you need to go the store, or the post office. Its nice having a lot to do in big city, but people (especially in high concentration) are just too freaking annoying to deal with all the time.
Got to be honest...the pictures that have been posted in this thread look a LOT better than the pictures I have taken thus far with my X. I adjusted from 6MP to 8MP via settings. Maybe I have only been taking images in low light situations.
