Default sites with flash videos that don't play

Espn cnet and many others won't work. Am I doing something wrong? On Droidx x with 2.2 and flash 10.1. Only youtube works.

Let's try the Droid X forums for this question, cghodo. I've moved it there for you.

Make sure in your browser setting that your plugins are turned on. I just tried cnet and it works fine on my X.

What web browser are you using? I'm using Dolphin HD and have no problems with ESPN, CNET or the few other sites I've tried so far. The browser displays a box with a down-arrow in it; when I tap the box the video loads and plays. You might try uninstalling flash then reinstalling it from the Market and see if that fixes things.

Flash has worked on CNN and many other sites for me. I have not found a site that has not worked.

Downloaded dolphin then reinstalled flash 10.1. Plug-in set to "on demand". Espn doesn't work, shows a picture of the first frame, tapping does nothing, long pressing brings up the menu for different things to do with the "picture".

Turned plug-in to always on and didn't change anything.

CNET has worked on dolphin.

Im also talking about the full espn site. I've tried multiple videos to no success.

ESPN3 isn't just straight up flash...it uses the move media player plugin...that's why you can't watch it.

I just tried cnn.com and I get no flash, a window with a red F9 in it

I have had flash work on audible.com, it will play the samples of the books just fine which it never did on my palm pre so that works but I really want it to work just as it does on a normal computer

also is there a way to permanently disable the mobile sites, like the iphone had that just changed the browser info so it reads like its from a computer not a phone or whatever it does

i have the same problem, and im all but positive its a legitimate issue not just a missed setting. I have tried everything, ive hard reset, tried countless settings, tried unrooted and rooted, tried on various roms, various browsers. This 100%, completely blows, especially since espn used to work like a damn charm

I'm using a non-rooted DroidX, 2.2, latest flash player version, both Skyfire browser and Dolphin HD, 3G connection - absolutely no problems viewing espn3, CNN, and I'm watching the "HourOne" Medal of Honor trailer on Gametrailers.com as I type this. Have folks who are having problems tried using a wifi conection to see if it makes a difference? That's the only thing I can figure that might be the difference is a perhaps a poor network connection?

Yeah I've tried those things. Man the fact that adobe doesn't allow people to email with questions blows my mind. I mean ESPN is the main thing I used to watch, am I supposed to just F-myself? I emailed ESPN, I said I have an android phone with full flash support and that I'm trying to track down the problem blah, blah, blah. The reply, word for word-class" I'm sorry but espn3 is not supported on the ipad or the iPhone or other apple mobile devices at this time". I'm feeling pretty helpless about all this. And I have a nexus one which has no home so google and t-mobile arent helpful.

I'm another happy Dolphin HD browser user... haven't had any problems viewing any web pages. Reading the do I want an iPhone from Verizon thread... the seamless view of any web page from your DroidX is one of the biggest features for me (along with EasyTether).

The 2 biggest things I'd recommend in Dolphin HD is to be sure your 'User Agent' is set to 'Desktop' and 'Enabled Plug-Ins' set to 'Always On'.

ESPN and CNN video watching works fine here on 3G and WiFi

On the stock browser last night I was on the CNN full site and pulled up a video and it started about after about 5 seconds of loading with no problem at all.

I still can't get Hulu to work, but I know they've tweaked their site to not work with mobile devices. I've tested under Dolphin HD and the stock browser, and I have it setup in 'Desktop' mode.

Also some of the videos on Dish Online work, but many don't, mainly because they piggy back on Hulu for most of their TV shows. I did watch part of the new Star Trek movie though via Dish Online and it worked like a champ.

Yeah ESPN seems to be the only site on which I can't see videos. CNN and all the rest work great, of course, ESPN is really the only one I'm interested. And it used to work extremely well. At this point I'd just like to find out who to ask in order to get technical support. ESPN? T-mobile? Android? Adobe(not really an option)?

Since you have a Nexus One and it's Google's OS, I guess you'd have to plead your case to them. It seems to be a phone issue since not everyone is having this problem.

I assume you tried clearing the browser cache? Having worked a bit with Flash on PCs and Macs, sometimes you'll get a corrupted swf (flash file) download. The file will not re-download if it is already present in the browser cache, leaving you stuck with a corrupted copy. You have to clear the cache to get the browser to download a fresh (and hopefully not corrupt) copy of the swf file.
