Default Android 2.3.3 updates halted

From Droid Life:

Rumor: Motorola Puts Gingerbread Builds on Hold for DROID2, Global, Etc. to Work Out Bugs - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

It’s been almost 2 weeks since we first reported that the DROID2 Global‘s Gingerbread (Android 2.3) soak test was about to begin, yet here we sit today without a mass rollout or announcement from Verizon/Moto that the file is available. Let’s also not forget that the DROID Pro was primed and ready at one point, but has seemingly disappeared from sight. After the original DROIDX received GB all the way back in May, we were expecting each additional Moto device including the DROID2, DROIDX2, Pro, and Global to start seeing updates right away – except that isn’t happening.
What we’ve been told is that Verizon has now rejected all Gingerbread builds from Moto until they have worked out a number of bugs that came with the DROIDX’s 2.3, a list which seems to be growing by the day. There is no telling when these will all be ready, but we’re our sources say that Motorola is reassembling teams to get this taken care of. It could be weeks or months before we start seeing GB on other devices – we really have no idea at this point.

I read this last night, and I was initially happy but then more 'meh' than anything. I'm glad they are going to fix (hopefully) the issues everyone is dealing with, including me. But at this point, I don't think I want to take their update. I'd rather flash back to Froyo, root, and take CM7. I'm concerned any update they release may prevent me from being able to do that later if I decide to give it a go.

I can understand that. I had significant issues following the update, tried many things but ended up reformatting my SD Card and it seem to be working okay now.

Mine works OK. Battery life has been fine, but ADW seems a little laggier than it was on Froyo, and I get a lot more random reboots than I did on Froyo. And sometimes I lose cell connection, and only way to get it back is to reboot, and that NEVER happened on Froyo. So yeah, they gots some bugs to works out.

Mostly happy with the update. Froyo had more issues for me than GB. FY would random reboot, now GB random freezes and I have to pull the battery. Same same I guess.

Default No serious problems for me...

DroidX on Froyo previously rooted, SBF'd to 2.3.340 before the BH GB Update, and I'm working PERFECTLY except for my robbed tethering ability....

(which by the way can be fixed WugPacked GB Tether Patch [All-In-One Zips])

Been on apex 2 for about a week, and before that was on apex beta. So I been on GB for well over a month probably two, and I get 0 problems of any kind.

I cant even tell you the last time I have had to do a battery pull. Also never even seen a force close so Im not sure what that even looks like. Never lose signal, nor GPS problems of any kind. I just dont understand how some people can have all these issues and others have none. What a job trying to figure that out must be.

None the less I advise you all the jump over to custom Roms like Apex if you really want to enjoy GB without any of the bugs.

But that's exactly the point, eh? You're not on the official release. I'm glad your phone is working, but you are running different software.

I certainly hope the issues are remedied. Since my update my wife's phone has completely crashed once, and mine has completely crashed twice, including today. I've had to perform a hard factory reset twice now, and it's becoming quite annoying.

I am not a patient man when it comes to nonsense such as this.

Does this mean that they are not allowing the update on the X, at the moment? I still can't get my Droid X to update. I still have all of the bloated apps on the phone, I've done it with and without the root, and I recently reset the phone, but it will not work.
