Here's a video to show you the difference between the Droid's Processor "OMAP 3430" and the Shadow's Processor "OMAP 3630"
So this phone is to have MotoBlur, any word on whether this can be disabled? I'll be honest, I have zero experience with Blur, it just seems people prefer just Android without the manufacturer monkeying with the OS.

Yes you are able to disable blur and you don't even have to root to do it... Who knows though, the new version of blur that launches with the shadow may be awesome

Glad to see you're keeping this thread up to date, thanks Rimzy and co!
Question for you guys. I've heard mention of Motorola locking the boot loader on their Android phones released after the Droid. What exactly is the boot loader, and what are the implications if it is locked down on this phone?
was just looking over at hofo and it seems something big is gonna happen on fathers day according to bill23, one of the main guys who has been leaking stuff. It could be an official announcement or the actual release date, who knows... but make sure to mark it in your calendar

Blur is a nice feature but if you don't do any social networking, no reason to have it enabled.

I just dunno how I feel about that hump for the camera. May be good for resting your finger under in portrait mode. But in landscape it might feel odd.

Yeah i just dont understand why it can't be flat, whats in the hump? Thats the only dealbreaker right now, but i'll live!
Yes, I've had my Devour since January and I'm well versed in using MOTOBLUR. It's main attraction is social networking. My favorite part of it is that when my first Devour broke and I got a new one, I just logged into my account and it reloaded all of my contacts.

Many people have been bashing blur, but i dont see why it is bad, hey ur avatar...are u excited for the world cup?
Blur seems to slow down my phone a tad. But I agree, it definitely isn't bad. I think a MOTOBLUR toggle on/off would be a great feature, but for now you can just disable widgets.
I am so excited for the world cup, just over 5 days HELL YEAH.
I'm a bit confused, I've seen reports that this phone is supposed to have a 4.3" screen. It's actually kind of irritating that we don't know very much at all about this phone.
I like the Incredible but the screen size is too small for me. Then again I don't want to wait until August for this phone to drop. :/

To me that means motorola has done a great job keeping the phone under wraps.

I should have this phone on WED this week to test.. hopefully i can confirm some of the items that are already out there.. without breaking nda.. I have a moto droid as my primary and was able to get my hands on it a couple weeks before launch. Same with the Dinc. I havent heard the exact release date but the fact that I am getting one this week may be a sign of a launch in the upcoming weeks.

I'm jealous. That's good news, I think. Perhaps we're on track for a Father's Day something (pre-order?) after all. The one question I'd like you to answer is about performance. The Incredible is supposedly buttery smooth, let us know (if you can) about how the Xtreme compares.

Oh thats amazing, and we appreciate that you will confirm some of the specs! i am getting worried about the random numbers and specs we are getting, hopefully what we know is true with a little tweaks here and there, thanks again.

Can't wait to hear what you have to say. I really hope everything is as good as it sounds to be so far. Can't wait for my NE2! July!!!

Very cool. Would like to have confirmation on if it has Motoslur or not. Is the construction actually Droid-like. Is the hump on the back for the camera obtrusive. And of course is it as fast and smooth running, or even more-so than the DI.
Would you rather have the hump or have them lessen the megapixels on the camera?
Megapixels don't me squat. It is how good the sensor is. I have a 6 year old Fujifilm 3.2mp digicam that takes a better pic than alot of 8-14mp cameras out now. People get so hung up on high megapixels. But how honetly is gonna be printing an 8x10 or 11x14 off of a pic they took with their phone.
So to answer your question I would much rather have a 3-5mp camera with a great sensor than an 8-10mp with a crappy sensor.

True, but the question should have been, "Would you rather have the hump or have them lessen the optics/sensor size on the camera?"
Both of those are important for good pictures and necessitate the "hump". And by "sensor size" I mean the physical dimensions...I'll take my full-frame 12MP Canon 5D over a 20MP camera with an APS-C sized sensor any day.
the next to last pic in the first post of this thread. They are "today" new, but they are the "newest" pictures. I don't see a hump, but I could be wrong.

I think it's still there based on some of the curves you can see rolling up along the battery case... I'm guessing it will stay, but hey, maybe it will make it more comfortable and ergonomic in our hands...
Anyone know if the Extreme will have a noise canceling mic or if the original Moto Droid had one?

Having a phone camera with more megapixels will almost always sound more appealing to the consumer. It's because a lot of us (including myself) know nothing about cameras. Plus, the ideology of "bigger is better" is hugely present.

Nice! I was kinda relying on HoFo for a while there and I don't like it nearly as much as AFs!

Big time +1 to this.

Based on all the current photos and info, this hump will still be present in some form. The general consensus is that the hump actually feels good to hold though. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Looks like there is a photo of the droid 2, coming up. I think it might be the extreme though. lots of different reports. I am at school right now. So I can't post them. Go to droid-life to see for yourself! Let me know what you think.

This is the latest pictures of the Droid 2, not the Shadow/Xtreme.
It's quite blurry though, leaves a lot to the imagination.
