Angry Pandora Issues for DX2?

The more I use the Pandora App on my DX2 the worse it works. It ends songs in the middle of play and goes to the next song or to the ads. Now even worse if I listen for more than 30 minutes or so, it starts sounding like a record being played at half speed.

Makes me sad. Pandora is one of my top 5 favorite apps.

Anyone else getting these issues?

Yes and it's a known issue with other DX2 users. The X2 is to blame.

Check to see if you've got the latest version of Pandora. Mine isn't giving me those issues on my DX2.

It's happening to mine as well. The first song plays fine, the second song always cuts off about 30 seconds in and jumps to the next song.

I am having the same problem... I can sit with HTC users and Droid X users and we all start the app at the same time and they're listing to music for 45 seconds before my DX2 starts... Also my DX2 cuts the songs short, delays for several seconds to a minute between songs... SUCKS!

I don't have the pops/stutters that other have (well, very seldom), but mine does have a bad habit of skipping to the next song about once out of every five songs.

I have found Slacker to be much more stable on my phone than Pandora. The only thing that I found that really sux with Slacker is that if I check a tecxt message or email or what ever, Slacker likes to close and then it will error out when I go back in. I actually am hoping that GB will help correct it, but not terribly confident about it.

This seems more to do with the low ram issues and what apps you have running. If your DX2 is behaving with enough ram to keep things from skipping- audio apps do not tend to skip or pop.

The Moto devs need to explain where the heck they put the RAM on the DX2. Something still does not add up as far as available and functional RAM.

Its the version of Pandora. With both 1.4 and 1.5 I had the issue. After searching around someone suggested going back to 1.3. Made the switch back to 1.3 and only have the random song skip issue once in a great while, instead of ever 2nd or 3rd song.

How'd you go about going back versions? I can't find anywhere with the older versions for download.

I believe that this a data issue with the dx2. Mostly just a hunch. When Google Music beta is downloading songs, it will stop and say that it can no longer download queued songs. I also lose wifi connection when my screen turns off sometimes. I do have the wifi setting to never turn of with screen.

Yeah, Google Music tends to randomly stop playing a song after a few minutes. I can skip to the next song and it works fine, but, typically, I'll just kill it with GO Launcher's task manager, reopen it, and everything's kosher for a while.

GREAT NEWS, EVERYONE! Mine was skipping songs randomly and just generally being glitchy, but I found a fix (well, I didn't, but someone did)! I've been listening, nonstop, to Pandora for the last 2.5-3hrs and haven't had a single random skip or audio glitch (or add, heh heh). Check it out:

Default Pandora won't run, DROID X2, 2.3.4, except on WiFi

I love my DROID X, now X2 due to warranty issue.... and love Pandora. I always had intermittent issues with Pandora on my X. Since getting X2, now on 2.3.4, I cannot get Pandora to connect and play at all unless it is through WiFi. The initial screen (along with an annoying Ad) comes up, then a 'Buffering' message that never gets beyond 1%... and goes to 'Loading'... where it stays.

Has anyone seen this? I have reinstalled, cleared cache, cleared browser cash, removed battery and spun around three times... nothing works...

Interesting note,... if it sits there... at this stage... ads do continue to play, about one every 10 minutes... but no music. Like salt in an open wound.

It's funny I have the same problem after updating to 2.3.4, it's back to 1-2 minute start-ups and then 30 seconds to 1 minute between songs and skips between.

I have full bars in my area, just when I thought Pandora was working great it goes a step back

For me, this Pandora "won't play on 3G" (but works fine on WiFi) problem started with the Pandora Sept 21st update to 1.5.13. This broke it on my X2 with Android 2.3.3 and was still broke after the update to 2.3.4. I was able to "fix" it by re-installing an old Pandora version (1.5.12) from an apk file. Now it plays in 3G also.

I hope Pandora issues a new update soon to fix this so I can use a current release.

I wish it were workign that way for me.... I got used to Pandora on long motorcycle rides... no resorting to the FM Radio app.

I am curious, for those that are working, what DROID X2 firmware are you running? Mine is 1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US

Thanks....

Not true actually. this may be the case at the moment for this device since Google's 2.3.4 release is so new to the market, but OEMs continually update their firmware, even for the same basic OS verstion. Not all of these fix releases, tweaking various aspects of the device they might have gottent wrong in their rush to market, make it to the street but some do.

If you are on the same firmware and we are running the same Pandora version I am not sure why our experiece is so different.

Do a search for pandora 1.5.7 ad free apk. Problem will be fixed.

I had the same problem. Pandora from the market will not work on my X2 with 2.3.4. I contacted pandora and they are aware of the problem but told me they don't have a fix.

Since some people had reported that Pandora 1.5.13 worked OK for them on 3G on the X2, I tried one more time... I upgraded my old version of Pandora 1.5.12 (which works fine on 3G) and upgraded to Pandora 1.5.13 (the current version). The new version of Pandora would not work on 3G (only plays ads, no music). It still works OK on WiFi. I then re-installed my older 1.5.12 version of Pandora from an apk and 3G music worked again. I guess we just have to use an old version until Pandora fixes this.

First downloaded Pandora App about 6wks ago, worked fine for the first four... did an App Update and since then it doesn't work. Followed all directions, ie; uninstall, etc and still not working. Anyone out there found the "FIX"?

Did a google search for "pandora 1.5.7 apk" and alot of download sites came up. Seems like a popular file. I would try one and run a virus scan on it.

I just updated to the X2 from the X with a replacement phone. I never had issues on the X with pandora and this is killing me. I've never used slacker, so I guess I'll give it a try if I reach my breaking point.

Default Same Problems!

Upgraded to X2 about a month ago... now Pandora only works over WiFi. When on 3G... goes from Loading 1% to just loading and sits there. If you leave it alone, it will play an ad about every 5 min or so... but no music at all.

Everyone says this is a Droid X2 issue, but Netflix and Spotify work great on this device.

So frustrating.

Default Same Problem.....Fixed Now.

I had the same problem after the most recent Pandora upgrade to 1.5.14. On 3G my Droid X would rebuffer every 60 seconds and start a new song. I did a Google search and came across apktop.com which offered the old version 1.5.12 which I downloaded and scanned for virus with lookout. The rebuffer problem is gone and Pandora is now back to normal.

Am I the only conspiracy theorist who think that since the X2 comes with a Verizon-branded copy of Slacker, that perhaps the Pandora app is crippled by Big Brother Red to encourage Slacker's use?

Fortunately for me, I prefer Slacker to Pandora anyway.

Makes me sad. Pandora is one of my top 5 favorite apps.

Anyone else getting these issues?
I became a member just so I can share my situation/fix with the community. Hope I did it right...

I recieved my first Motorola x2 today, it was an insurance replacement/upgrade from my handset insurance company asurion. I never had music streaming issues with my DROID 1 but when I received the x2 I experienced the same situation as many others. Pandora and "slacker radio" would play a song or two but afterwards skip through songs around halfway through. It was frustrating for me too. My x2 was stock out of box with a dual core processor and seemed to have enough speed but lacked where I cared most... pandora. Id understand that since slacker came with the phone, one would assume it was designed to be more.stable with it than pandora but that wasn't the.case for me. Both programs stuttered, popped, and skipped past songs iI wanted to listen to. I tried unistalling the appear to reinstall them through the market that didn't help, tried installing earlier versions of pand it did the same thing. Stuttered popped and skipped through the.songs. I even tried uninstalling slacker and pandora turning off the phone, taking out the battery, putting back in the supplied sd card (which in some android forum threads suggest runs faster than the 16phone gig I had in my DROID 1, and with the battery out : holding the power button down for 30me seconds to drain the capacitor to release any built up static that may have accrued during transit/delivery, and before reinstalling pandora or slacker - clearing my cache to prepare for the fresh installs. None of these worked for m. BUT what did work for me was downloading to most recent system update followed immediately by a master system reset. Don't install the update just download. The x2 will install your system update by default during the system master reset and should fix the problem. It did for me. Good luck
