Default Flash player and Youtube

I have downloaded the YouTube app and when I select it, it runs vidoes fine. However, when I click on a video link from an email I get a black screen that states that I need a verison of Flash Player. Yet, when I try and download Flash Player, I can't get it to complete the download. Any suggestions?
