Default Just got my wife a DROID, She is already rooted

She is coming from a curve 8330 and is THRILLED by the DROID.
I didn't get the X because I'm not thrilled about the encrypted bootloader and part of the fun with these phones is making it your own.
So to practice last night I turned my phone down to stock and we used the very helpful guides here for her to go step by step and reroot my phone.
I was there to answer any questions, and she had a few but she did do exactly as told by the instructions and was able to root without any help from me, so able to root that I had the pink themed Kangrade ROM on there for a bit LOL. now, my wife is no computer guru. and was able to pull this off.
Anyway she got her new phone today and inside 15 minutes had it rooted to the pink theme and was setting it up like a mad woman by the time I left to come back to work.
I guess I'm telling everyone this because I know the instructions look scary. and you're thinking what the hell is a ROM or a Kernel or recovery mode. And while those are all valid questions (thats what the Mrs was asking me) the technical answer isn't needed to get this done.
So take your time, read, reread, read it again, watch the videos for the parts of the instructions that simply don't make sense to see what exactly they are talking about, download all your needed files and take it just one step at a time and in the end, you'll be thrilled with the results.

Thanks for posting this...I have a Droid too, my husband and I both just got them yesterday in place of the Eris and we're both really loving the phone but I thought about rooting and read a little about it and changed my mind because it seemed to challenging for me but knowing that it's not if i just take my time is a good reassurance. Maybe I'll attempt it this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks again!

Just remember to do everything on a full battery charge so you have plenty of time. Enjoy your Droid!
