Do we need to back up all of our stuff on the Droid first before updating?

So grateful guys. It's been a blast, can't wait to interact in a more social/less tense way in the near future. It's installing now, hopefully I did everything right!!

Alright...Downloaded, installed, updated, etc. and is working great. First impressions:
  1. FAST
  2. NO 3D LAUNCHER!!! DAMN YOU MOTOROLA!!!
  3. USB Tethering included.
  4. No more lag in the app drawer
  5. 5 HOMESCREENS!!!
  6. Market has update all and automatic updating features.
  7. Twitter now bundled (not un-installable)
Have fun, everyone!

This is the official release from Verizon/Motorola/Google applied with the official code put on your phone by V/M/G. What's to fear?

It'd be hilarious if this had been a hoax, oh say by, Mr. Gates, and he hacked/hid the file and now we all have Window Mobile phones!!! *gag*

Did you still have the 2.1 update.zip file in your root? You might have applied that instead.

Installing now. Anxious. Flash, here I come.

What I"m most looking forward to:
-Flash
-Apps2SD
-Auto update apps

Maybe I'll even drop LauncherPro! Maybe . . .

Working now after giving it a few minutes to settle down, sync and do whatever background tasks it needed to do.

First impressions:
-Web browser is a bit faster at page rendering & scrollling through large desktop-formatted pages.
-Automatic brightness setting in the power panel widget is very handy
-Phone app switching seems a bit laggier than before
-I had to reinstall the Weather Channel widget for some reason
-5 homescreens rock!
-Accelerometer seems a bit sluggish
-Love those new shortcuts on the bottom for phone & browser

My app drawer was empty too for about 3 mins or so. Just sit tight and let it crank for a bit. You may have to reboot your phone once or twice. If it stops responding select "wait".

To those who may get overly antsy with the system restart after applying the install, I sat at the droid red eye for approximately 6 minutes. Be patient!

Ok, so I've installed it. Everything is working great, except Flash. I've installed "Adobe Flash Showcase" from the Market, but it doesn't appear as though Flash is actually installed. Has anyone had luck with this?

I just realized that Lithium Mod V1.0.12 is built on the same DROID build. So I was thinking of rooting, however, if I root do I have to unroot to manually install froyo if I want to go that route instead?

Yes, same issue here. Installed "Adobe Flash Showcase", launched the mobile Flash page, which ultimately ended with the "file not found" from a Market-type page.

For those having issues with Flash: Adobe Flash Showcase is *NOT* Flash Player. I am not running this build yet, but I'm assuming that Adobe Flash Player is not showing up in the Market?

Also, could someone please run Linpack on this stock build? I'm curious what kind of scores it's getting.

Apparently Adobe hasn't cleared the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta 3 for Motorola DROID devices running FRG01B...

Did a factory reset after upgrade and 2 successful reboots. Didn't connect to VZW/3G nor did it ask for activation on restart... odd. Manual *228 activation worked.
