any workaround, app or something? or we need 2.2.1 ?
Certain protected apps such as Skype and Chicktionary are not show is it me or is there something missing?
Others are reporting the same - it may be that Skype is not set to show for hte official build for whatever reason, it is a server side thing, so hold tight until it gets updated....

Also, could anyone shed some light on my issue? Thanks
Apparently, it is no longer in the market, and one presumes Adobe will bring it back up somewhere in the next week or so. They probably didn't expect many of us to "jump the gun" this way.
Actually, was not in the market - it is still in Beta, beta 3 to be exact, so it is not in hte market yet.

I got a question, I just finished installing froyo but how do I get the little android man on my phone?
If you are talking about what I think you are then long press on an empty part of your home screen, go to widgets then select the "Home Screen tips" widget.
just curious..but snagged the flash install..thanks..but it seems to freeze up my browser alot..i use skyfire and like it very much..but sites with flash..no likey.

weird.
whatev!
Go to setting > Plug-ins. Set it to On Demand. That way all the annoying adds wont load or any video thumbnails. When you want to use flash, you'll see a green down arrow on the window. Simply click on it and flash will load there. *Update Below*

I didn't see you mention skyfire. I don't use it, so my advice may not be pertinent. However, the 2.2 browser is much faster than the 2.1 browser. Give it a try if you haven't yet.
I was rooted but I restored my un-rooted copy of 2.1 update 1. The phone works just fine at 2.1 update 1. When I try to perform the 2.2 manual upgrade though, I get:
"assert failed: apply_patch_check....blah blah blah
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
I've cleared data and cache multiple times, downloaded 3 copies of the update.zip, performed hard reset and nothing has worked. This phone is not currently activated as I just got the DX, but I do intend to give this Droid to my son. Any thoughts?
**For anyone who updated to ANDROID 2.2 Froyo and your 3G went out**
I was experiencing this issue and followed the link in this quote, so I decided to experiment. I WAS able to restore 3G service to my phone. 1st. Go to settings>Wireless & networks and turn on airplane mode. Allow your phone to remove all service. 2nd. Turn airplane mode off. I know this sounds silly, but it worked.
whiterabbit install fails on rooted 2.1 with SPRecovery
I am running stock 2.1 rooted with SPRecovery. No custom ROM installed.
I tried the whiterabbit patch and and when I try to install using SPRecovery the installation aborts with the error "assert failed applying patch check"
After the first failure I re-downloaded both files and tried again. Same error.
I used the following in a DOS prompt to merge the files.
copy /b signed-voles-FRG01B-from-ESE81.e48e48ff.zip+FRG01B-root.zip update.zip
Anyone have any idea why this won't work for me? Is this a problem with the Google file or the whiterabbit file? I don't want to install a ROM because I really don't want to deal with updating all my settings.
Edit:*** Sorry, I see that someone else posted a similar problem a few posts back. I read it. Just forgot it was there.

I put the old stock recovery partition on my site, ripped straight from 2.0.1.
How do I set flash 10.1 so it doesn't pull up everything flash on the page. I saw someone say settings-->plugins, but I can't find that anywhere. Suggestions?
Just FYI, Trident has a sticky for anyone that gets the OTA. PLEASE SHARE!!!! I'm gettin all OCD. And i already have ADD so not a good combina....oh look, a butterfly.
So this one is a little weird - I apparently have two clock apps on my phone now - one is 2.2 (12KB and doesn't show up in my Downloaded apps) and one is 2.1 (300KB and does show up in Downloaded apps). They seem to have replaced "Alarm Clock" and now take me directly to what would be the media dock screen.
Now I'm not sure which is which in my app tray, but I'm assuming they're in l-to-r order and what I assume is the 12KB 2.2 version is showing everything correctly except the date, which reads "%2$27 %3$27 - %7$27 %8$27, %9$27".
My alarm also went off three hours early and I couldn't turn it off without a battery pull. So that was pretty lame.
No other major issues with 2.2, but is anyone else experiencing this? I only just noticed because of the alarm issue and haven't been able to find anything online.
Ok, here's the serious question. Has anyone who is running stock had any success with flash running smoothly? All my videos are super 'jerky' and the video and sound don't sync up. I've tried this on a number of sites, including those in the flash showcase.

Anything I'm missing to optimize it?

The first question simply answered. It can't. the 10.1 you can get on the droid is beta and the droid hardware is not stellar. When my wife's droid incredible gets the OTA update I will check and see if it's just hardware. Sorry.
The second question. First, from you home screen, press your new fancy dedicated browser button to pull up the stock one. Press the menu softkey. Press more (bottom right in portrait, far right in landscape). Scroll to the bottom where it says settings. Now, under settings, my "enable plug-ins" option is the 10th from the top. This pulls up to "Always on, On demand, and Off" Just select on demand.

I had heard that the market in 2.2 will not show apps that will work in 2.2. So if the developer has not set up the app to say it works in 2.2, it does not show in the market.
Hey. Quick reply on the widgets/icons disappearing when programs are moved to the SD card. I had mentioned earlier that some shortcuts disappeared from the main program list/menu, while others didn't. Well, today, after ~24 hours, all of the program shortcuts are magically back and working. Seems you just have to wait a little and it will fix itself.
ATTENTION: Motorola and Verizon have found issue with this OTA update and it is rumored that there will be another next week. For those who have already installed this, don't freak out, you will be able to install the new update right over this one. For those who have not already installed this, it's probably best to wait until next week. Stay tuned for more information..

I manually installed the 2.2 update yesterday. Do you think the new OTA update will update my phone automatically, or will I have to do it manually to return to stock?

It will update automatically or you can force the new OTA. Either will work

they probably realized they forgot to take out usb tether and want to make sure it is taken out lol
I doubt that that is the reason. From what I have been told, anyone who tries to turn on USB Tether from a stock build is redirected to Verizon's website to buy a contract for it.
There are just too many issues going on for that to be the only reason. I mean just read this thread alone and don't even look at the many others that have been started and you will see what I am taking about.

Reason: adding disclaimer
You know... i actually did kinda think that this build felt a little... unfinished. For example, (sorry, i can't provide screenshots as im a noob and dont know how) if you go to live wallpapers, on the stock update, and hit the neural network one, there's no styleizing on the background like there was on 2.1. Also, in the messaging client, the background is white instead of black. Anyone else find anything similar? Also, i notice the phone heats up A LOT when it's moving at full tilt (600 mHz) and are we supposed to get a kernal for a speed bump with this update as well?

FroYo Update
i'm Really New to this Os and Am Curious.
I Keep hearing how this update is for the 1st Droid W/ ver.2.1 update1,
Well what i wonder is, Is it only for the Droid or any of the Andoid phones
with the Same 2.1 w/update1. i have the droid 1 that i bought in Dec 09 but currently use the Droid X i bought a cple weeks ago.
I just wonder if FroYo will be offered to all the phones or is it Strictly for the 1st Droids?
Anyone got any ideas?

Reason: spelling and grammer
What if any is the advantage to doing this now, other than you get it before Verizon sends it out? Is there anything in this version that would work better or more than what you phone carrier would send you??? i do'n't see the point.

That is the exact update that Verizon was sending to everyone. But, like 2.1, it had so many issues that Verizon pulled it from the OTA and is going to send out a new update that doesn't have those bugs.
If you don't mind the issues that come along with the first official update linked to in that post, then go right ahead and update. You will then get another update for the new one. Otherwise, just wait for the new package to come out and update with that instead.
I successfully did the 2.2 update yesterday, thanks to the excellent instructions in this thread. Was running the 2.1 update 1 (never tried rooting). It went just as predicted.
I noticed the alarm app has been replaced by a clock app and when docked to the MM docking station, the look is different now.
The issue I'm having is that the Droid keeps losing my wireless signal, it seems to cycle scan-connect-disconnect even when next to my router. 3G seems ok, when I'm out of wireless range. Anyone know why the wireless connection would be so flaky?
The only reason i can think of is the fact that like i've stated in another thread, this update doesnt seem to be finished, so they havent had time to iron everything out.
The Motorola Droid - the first ever Verizon Android Phone - exploded onto the mobile market with an incredibly successful ad campaign that brough Android to the masses. With a huge and vibrant touchscreen, solid metal body, full QWERTY keyboard, 5M... Read More
