Take it for what it's worth, I was just at the Verizon store buying some accessories for my X and the rep there who I always talk to told me the OTA for Froyo on Droid is scheduled to start at midnight tonight.
Sweet, But is there any priority to who will get the first 10k?
It doesn't matter if you are or not lol. I guarantee you that the update.zip file will be here RIGHT when it gets out to those 10k users....granted just ONE of the 10k goes HERE lol. Don't worry...if the rumor is true about tomorrow, you'll get it tomorrow.

Instead of rebooting, you could just enter *#*#CHECKIN#*#* (*#*#2432546#*#*) on your touch dial pad. It does a complete system refresh/check in.

I've been checking periodically all day on my droid... but I'm not going to stay up for a rumor. If it is coming out tonight, it will be a pleasant surprise in the morning.
The only thing that makes me nervous is, I came from the eris forum. And evryone was so excited for eclair but when it came out it was pretty sweet. But rhen all the issues came out. It seems that eclair seemed to come out pretty well for the droid. But it still makes me nervous. I think the eris tainted me.
Would it be correct to say, we are waiting for midnight - the rumored release of the first wave of updates. (10k, right?) Hoping one of the 10k provide the update.zip file, which we can force a manual update, right?

Am I missing anything here?
You got it! I have a very detailed guide pre-written on how to force it. All I need is an update.zip file and I'll make it live to everyone.
In case any of you are one of the lucky 10K, please follow these steps to help the rest of us out.

According to the latest leaked Verizon document, the Droid Android 2.2 update should start hitting devices on August 3rd. There is a small chance that test updates could start tonight, but the mass rollout appears to be coming this Tuesday…

As soon as we see an update.zip for this, we’ll be sure to post it. Stay close! You never know what could leak out in the next couple of days.
but to be honest, this looks fake. Who is this announcement for? the employee's? if it was for the public, it wouldnt need to be leaked. the developers know the "features" of 2.2, and dont need it Advertised to them lol. So this is not really proof. the word of some stranger. the 2.2 images could just be an update for the images, verizon doesnt want their support stuff to be outdated, im sure. 2.2 will come, but i see no proof that its comming this week, expecialy tomorrow. send me an actual verizon/motorola link besides the droid help page, please. <3 sorry if i seem needy, its just that froyo was "supposed" to be released mid july, accounting to a "trusted source", so...

I got a quick question .. How are we gonna be able to get adobe flash? You can't find it on the market with any of the leaked versions of froyo.. I know someone is gonna pop up a download link or tell me to search for it, but on the PDF released by Verizon it says that this release of Froyo has adobe flash included. Is it gonna be baked into it, or will adobe unlock it for us? NOTE I already have beta 3, but I'm thinking of those who don't root or frequent android forums..

From what I've heard, it will be baked in. This is coming from a Verizon insider of mine.
I've also heard that this final build will have the proper device keys to unlock it in the market. We shall see...
Either way, we'll have it right after release.

Ha ha ha! Told you someone would send a link to it! Let's see you download flash from there with any of the leaked froyo releases.
Hey Trident, if I'm rooted and running the latest leak of Froyo, if I were chosen at midnight, would I get the update? Or would I need to be on stock 2.1?

twospirits included a link to where he got that quote from. Matt, the manager on the Motorola Support forums, originally made that post. Here's the link to his post once again.
To help you with the mandatory system update for your DROID by Motorola, this page contains the following information:
Reserving Power for System Update
System Update Instructions
System Update while You Are Roaming
Reserving Power for System Update
The "Install now" and "Restart & install" options will not be available if your device does not have enough power availability. The system update requires 40% or more power availability if not connected to an external power source and 20% power availability if connected to a power source.
Does the phone download the file prior to the notification? Therefore I should watch for my data arrows to go for awhile lol. Or does it after it notifies you?

I'm excited, and I'm rooted and don't plan on installing. OS release days are always exciting for me. From the first "I got the update" to "Liar, you did not. Post a picture now...I don't care if you don't have a camera. Borrow one" to "Did you install it" to "Uh, yeah I did" to "Your a JERK...Why didn't you grab it for the community" and so on. It's a fun process ...

Wow! Flash back to the 2.1 update. Can't get more realistic or accurate than what you just said.
