Did update based on info from another source, but the instructions here are much better (pictures too). Everything appears to be working great. Grabbed the flash beta too. I'm a happy camper.
I am trying to install 2.2. I downloaded it using xscope but I can't figure out how to send it to my sd/root. Any suggestions?
Do you have Astro File Manager installed? If not install it, then when you open it the sccard root is /sdcard thats where the file needs to be and named update.zip. You can then search for it and long press for edit to copy and or move the file.
Need help. Have downloaded update> Don't understand next step
You will then open a text menu with four options. Using the directional pad, navigate to “apply sdcard:update.zip” and push the gold, center button to select it.
I feel like an idiot asking this but what is a text menu and how do I get there. Have the right screen up as described above but can't get any response.

After you held X you have to press volume up and the camera button at the same time. AI have noticed on my phone i have to close the slide to do this properly and sometimes it takes a few tries. You will know when you get it though.
yeah I did that and i got the correct menu on the screen but no way to navigate it. I closed the slide, opened the slide, pushed buttons no response on the screen to highlight "apply sdcard:update.sip" and it says to push the gold center button to select it. Don't understand what that is. Thanks for the response.

Just gently press the camera button to select and it should work.

I have tried every download on this site including the one directly from Google. All the file sizes have been 45.2. Tried both methods through computer and via phone.
Here is what I get every time
E: can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- install from scdard...
finding update package...
verifying update package... E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have seen a few posts about the "e:signature verification failed" but nothing that mentions "e:failed to verify whole-file signature"
Never been rooted.
tried 8 times then did a factory reset and tried another 10 times.
I had to reinstall the camera since the one of my homescreen no longer worked. The new camera app is great. Much faster!
One problem I am having that I'm hoping someone can help with.
When I searched the market for Flash, I downloaded the "Adobe Flash Showcase" but when I try to go to a flash website I am prompted to download flash which links me to the Market which says that it cannot be found.
Anyone able to run flash who is running the OTA update?
When your camera stopped working did your phone lock up and then reboot? My phone locks up and reboots each time I try to use the camera.
I am not sure how to reinstall the camera, if this would even fix the problem. Any suggestions?

I'm having the EXACT same issue. I've tried every link, at least twice... and I've tried downloading directly from my phone. Breaks my heart everytime it doesn't pass lol.
Hello, I just installed Froyo for my Droid and it's great. My only question was how to get the 3d apps launcher. I don't want to have to reinstall an entirely different launcher like launcherpro tho.
Ya im getting the same errors. I've tried 4 or 5 diff download mirrors with this same problem. Any ideas?
you most likely are rooted or have SPRecovery installed. I had the exact same problem. Go back to stock and restore the original sbf file. See the posts from last night in this thread addressing that issue.
ATTENTION: Motorola and Verizon have found issue with this OTA update and it is rumored that there will be another next week. For those who have already installed this, don't freak out, you will be able to install the new update right over this one. For those who have not already installed this, it's probably best to wait until next week. Stay tuned for more information..

Not sure if this matters or not, I noticed the file is about 45mb...every time I download one of the files, its only around 10-12 MB's... I'm downloading through a portal at work (citrix) not sure if this is my problem.
I just manually updated to 2.2... Working great so far.. I have to questions. 1) Is ok to delete the update.zip file from root of sd card?
2) Will my phone still receive the OTA? And if so, do I just ignore it?
Just saw Trident's post to maybe hold off on the update until the next one is pushed sometime next week.
Oops.
Just wanted to say thanks to all for all your hard work. I installed flawlessly in a matter of a few minutes.
Also, instead of using Astro File Manager which I already had installed or using a USB cable, I have SwiFTP installed and dropped it in the root of my SD card that way.
Another thing I've noticed that I haven't seen posted elsewhere is the Email app mailboxes changed color but it's no big deal.
Thanks again to for all your help everyone and I'll be sure to hang around now.
This is great. Thanks guys. On problem I'm seeing since upgrading is my music library no longer has artist info. Artist panel is empty. All songs are listed as "unknown artist"
RukusRazor thank you so much! Now, hoping not to show too much of my lack of knowledge with this... I just need to know how to move it to my SD card... uhg! Sorry...
Yay! Did it all by my little self. Haha! Opened & installed, but Flash still not working. Any ideas?

Reason: updated info
Ok, so I forced the 2.2 update yesterday...problems so far
- Had to do 3 hard resets in past 24 hrs
- 2.2 apps still don't show up in marketplace (ie Flash)
Will I still get the OTA update when I should or will it think I already have 2.2?
It will know you have 2.2, but it also knows that it's an earlier build. It'll just patch it. All you have to do is wait for the OTA or stay tuned for another force guide by me next week.

Should I go back to 2.1 and wait to get 2.2 ota? Also just wondering what was so messed up about 2.2 that it had to be changed.
*sigh* If flash doesn't work, download the .apk or whatever file. I think someone has uploaded it on the forums somewhere.
And for all those who are having problems/issues, do what Trident said and just wait til next week. Verzion and Motorola will have their fixed OTA next week. I'm sure most issues will be resolved then.
Ok I finally got mine to update to 2.2, for some weird reason everytime I downloaded it to my computer it came over as 12mb instead of 45mb, I downloaded straight from my phone and it worked, all 45mb's downloaded.
On another note, I saw an article online how Verizon requested they remove wifi tethering from the update, can this be the "issues" they're talking about? or does this update already not have tethering? (I'm still installing)

All that's included within this build is USB Tether.

All Id id was while the phone was mounted over USB to my computer, I downloaded that MegaUpload version of the APK to the root of my SD Card. Then using "Astro" app, I launched it. Clicked Install. That was it.
hope this helps..
Now to get tethering for without paying 20 a month.. Hmmmm
