In your "without"computer update instructions, in step 4 you say "once you have unmounted the phone", is that for if you mounted it to your computer to download astro file mngr? if you downloaded the update.zip straight to the phone why do you need to unmount, im confused...

Servers are slow, but I am working on getting another mirror via Media Fire.
Just be a bit more patient with me as it uploads.

Ya, I really wish I'd been tipped off about this killing swype before I updated. That's a real bummer.

Phone is rebooting now. So far so good.
Edit: Phone is booted now.
Launcher took a while to load. Things are pretty poky. Make sure you give it some time to refresh and fully reboot.
Edit 2: Stock 2.2 launcher is still slow as crap. LauncherPro seems to work perfectly. Swype is definitely broken (big bummer there).
Edit 3: Swype works fine now. Uninstall it and reinstall it and you should be good to go. Swype actually feels a good bit faster in 2.2

I need more server space for the file! My servers cannot handle this many people.
If you would like to make a mirror of the file on your server, please PM me ASAP!

As found on the Swype site:
Go to settings and uninstall swype, but not swype installer
run swype installer to reinstall swype
all is good.

You can download a stock 2.1 image in ROM Manager. Just do some searching around.. you'll find it.

With ROM Manager, you're able to go into ROM Manager and restore your phone to the stock 2.0.1 file - it's pretty simple, just go to
ROM Manager --> Download ROM --> Stock Images --> Verizon DROID 2.0.1 Stock
Don't select the
Verizon Droid 2.2 Froyo leak

Yes. This is an official download from Motorola / Verizon, so it is not rooted.

FWIW: The first link, from My DROID Does, is terminating the file too early - I have attempted 4 DLs now, and I have a fast connection here:
So, I personally suggest using the second or third links for your DL.
Trident, you've got mail coming in about 5 min.

Good stuff, update worked perfectly.
Quick kinda off-topic question, but how do I get flash working? I downloaded flash showcase from the market, and it sends me to a "get adobe flash" link. But when I click on the link I get a not found error.

Side note:
AWESOME FIX!!!!!!!!!
So I've had problems with my droid (2.1) randomly deleting my texts into oblivion. Sometimes there are many MMS messages in my texts when this happens.
After a long period of time, I found "dialer storage" taking up 170MB of space, which was cramping me badly but I couldn't do anything about it.
It appears that all of those MMS's that "disappeared" were still hogging space.
In 2.2, I just went and found dialer storage (170mb) and deleted data. I now have 200MB free on the phone!! w00t!
awesome.
Hopefully it'll stop randomly deleting messages, too. One can only hope.

I used two both from this site. Downloaded from a mac so the file automatically unzips but I compress the folder into a update.zip file...
My sd card comes up as "SD CARD" when I mount it to my computer (I believe I changed it from the default), would that effect it from running correctly?

Installed it and it works. I have a few questions though.
1. I no longer hear the DROID notification sound on startup, and when I plug in the USB cable.
2. Is is safe to delete the update.zip from the root of the SD card?
Thanks.
BTW, here's a screenshot:

Just finished updating. Reboot went blazing fast for me, but they may be because I just had to wipe and reboot 2.1 yesterday due to a problem with my Droid.
Thank you guys for putting this out there!

1: Known issue - been running leaked FroYo for a couple of months now and it is the same for me.
2: Now that you are updated, yes, although it won't hurt to keep it around just in case.

Not sure on that, but I haven't been seeing it on my BB 0.4 FroYo either - you'll have to manually download it and add it, ir my best guess.

You can not re-zip the file yourself, it will lose the digital signature. Do the following and then download the update.zip again and continue from there.
- Open Safari
- Navigate to "Safari" and then choose "Preferences"
- Choose the "General" tab
- Uncheck "Open Safe Files After Downloading"

Your best bet is to just flash the stock 2.1 rom and try it from there. 2.1-update 1 i think it is.
