OK, I finally got back and sent it out. I think I got everyone to this point.
About 20 beta testers.
Haven't worked on the GUI yet, but it works.

Nice work. I would like to make one suggestion once you get everything working. Make a widget kind of like GPS OnOff and WiFi OnOff where all you do is click the icon and it turns the LED on.

You can't install from the gmail app. Go to gmail in your browser and it will work fine.

For the Droid at least.
But definately put your name on it...and an "On at open" option, along with a selectable auto turn off, and Morse code translator, a la
Pocket Light .
Again, good lookin out Chet.

A few quirks I have noticed and sent a reply to your email about.
(1) When the light is in the "On" mode, the screen switches to full brightness, but display timeout still exists.
(2) Turn the light "On", then open the camera app. With the flash on Auto or On, depress the camera button halfway to focus. The light will get brighter, then turn off... when you return to the light application, it still registers as being "On", but it is not on.
(3) Light will automatically turn on if the orientation is changed... even if the phone is sleeping. [edit] but only if the app has focus. [/edit]
All in all, a great app... thanks for developing.

Just tested it. Great job chet! Many thanks, if you were to set up a paypal I would gladly give you a little something for the effort. One thing I did notice was the screen goes to max brightness when the led is on. Not harping on ya, just figured you would like some feedback. Thanks again!

I have found that as well. I did some testing and found out that the camera does that too when the flash is on. That actually seems to be a quirk of the flash_mode_on property.

I'm trying to decide what I want to do moving forward. The individual requests are starting to be unmanageable, but haven't decided if I want to go through the official market or not.
I will post something once I make a decision.
A big thanks to Scott and Thomas for making the first donations!

If I was you I would put the app on the market. The price I donated was the price I thought it was worth and I dont see you having any trouble selling it at the price. Im new to android but I would think the market would be where most of the devs are getting their money. Good luck and great app.

One possible bug, the light automatically turns on if you go from portrait to landscape, anyway to stop that?
